I’ve just created the poll for user-assignable keyboard shortcuts.

Feature request: Customizable keyboard shortcuts
This is one of the most wanted features and I don’t think we’ve had a poll for it, so here it goes… I’d like to be able to easily assign my own keyboard shortcut to every menu item, paragraph style, character style, style variations and autotitles.

Thanks, Mart°n, that’s exactly it. Updating the dictionary may or will be harder, but as the work may be shared among some people, it maybe won’t hurt that much. There’s a point when the dictionaries are good enought for most people (I wouldn’t use the word perfect) so that custom hyphenation rules ...

You’re right, I did not think of this neither. But putting bold and italics together is a typographic faux pas (at least according to Elements of Typographic Style ), so that it is not exactly bad to make it difficult to do from a certain point of view :) Users can always create another style variat...

Styles won't cut it. A default font will, and a style should reference the default (well, the typeface at least) unless it's changed. Aha. Then Your feature request is justified (although I doubt other users need it, but that’s what the poll is for). We have both mentioned the styles because they a...

I know it's slight because even Jer's Novel Writer does this. Word does this. Hell, even your precious WordImperfect does this, ALL of them without tainting styles or even loading styles or modifying what a paragraph is or showing me how cleverly organized the software engineer's thought processes ...

Are we talking about the same search bar? I am talking about this thing, see the search at the bottom of the window. I think this could look good in Mellel.

Re: Feature request: Learning soft hyphen
Could you give an example what “frequently” means in numbers? So frequently that the current interface gets in my way. (Sorry, no numbers. Usually it’s once or twice a page? Rough estimate.) It would be (IMHO) better to invest some time (and I think of more than just one person) to improve the hype...

Re: To Undo or not to Undo..
What exactly does it undo, and what does it not undo? It undoes anything, but the undo buffer gets cleared when you save the file. Is this the problem? I must say I have problems with this, too, because I am used to frequent saving to the point it has become a habit – I often hit Cmd-S only to real...
