Re: Mac Symbol font not working?
I agree with Don, there are ways to deal with this. Since you write long documents and need symbols, you would probably find CopyPaste Pro extremely useful. With it you can set up multiple clipboard archives (as many as you need) for storage of copied items you want permanently saved for later re-us...

Thanks from me, too, Don. I didn't know about the selectable shortcuts for inserting notes.

Re: spelling and grammar checker
I agree with donb. Long ago, I installed a program to check grammar and it was a lot of fun -- tinkering with the settings and prefs, playing around with it. It was like a computer game, an enjoyable time-waster. What it did not do well, is check grammar. I soon got tired of it and dumped it.

Re: Newbie question: Style changes not reflected in the document
Well, it seems my style set database was corrupt. I duplicated the recalcitrant set style and the resulting copy behaved well… Then I tried to delete the original but it kept reappearing in my sets database. I wish I could reproduce this because it seems there is a bug at work. Unfortunately I cann...

Re: Mellel Tutorial for beginners (for version 2.7)
I'm a longtime Mellel user who read the tutorial and found it useful. There's a free PDF reader called Skim that's terrific. It makes it a snap to navigate long PDF files from the table of contents. You can highlight sections of interest, or circle them, add regular and anchored notes. And you can s...

Re: assign strings (words) to keys?
I second Spell CatcherX. It not only has the text expansion capability but includes loads of other features useful to writers. Copy Paste Pro has multiple clipboards and with it you can create "clip archives" that hold anything you want to save for later use. You can name the archives and ...

<<It would be nice to have multiple paragraphs in a single item on the list.>>
I agree with the other posters about continuous numbering.
And multiple paragraphs would be really helpful.

Re: Placing graphics
There seems to be a bug in Mellel 2.7 with placing graphics ... I get stuck in a loop with this text message: Documenting rendering. After missing the last couple of upgrades I finally downloaded 2.7. I wanted a quick overview of the new features so I downloaded the tutorial but was never able to o...

Re: FileMaker and Mellel
Are the other files you have no problem with FileMaker recognizing bundles like Mellel files? Could part of the problem be because Mellel files are actually directories? No, they're not bundles. This is a FileMaker problem (my version's a few years old, maybe things have changed in later versions, ...

Re: FileMaker and Mellel
FileMaker databases allow one to access individual files via a "container." Unfortunately, because Mellel files are now bundles, they are not recognized by FileMaker. This is a very old thread so I decided to ask about this problem again. Has anyone found a way to get FileMaker to recogni...

Re: Read consecutive files into Mellel
I collect a lot of text, too. An "Append to "SELECTED" Document" feature would be extremely useful. Assigned an easy to use and remember shortcut, of course. And with a user selectable divider automatically inserted between pasted items: date, dotted line, project name, for insta...

Re: Licensing question
Does this mean, given the OP's original purchase date of late 2006, that a single upgrade would only get the OP the version that was current as of late 2008, and a second upgrade would then need to be purchased to get to the current version? I still use Mellel v2.2.5. It works well for the kinds of...

Re: Feature request: Special characters as part of the pallette
There are two small apps I would suggest: 1) Clip Master, a free preference pane saves items for later use. It's quick and easy to add new pieces of text, etc. This is okay for saving a few items. 2) But my favorite utility, by far, is CopyPaste Pro. This is a multi-clipboard app that includes many ...

Re: Simple feature request: Auto-hide palettes
I like the auto-hide idea. There are several apps out there that might offer some ideas. CopyPaste Pro has small icons that are always visible on the desktop. Passing the cursor over one of them causes a palette to open (the palette closes automatically when the cursor is moved away). CP also has pr...
