Hi,
Perhaps my tricks posted here will help: http://forum.redlers.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1634. The thread is titled "Couple of Conversion Tricks."
Good luck.

Re: Unable to paste CJK into Mellel
I recently realised that something similar happens with Pages too. If I open a Japanese Word document in Pages, copy it, and paste it into Mellel, everything is garbled. If I open the same document in Nisus, copy it, and paste it into Mellel, there is no problem. But a Japanese file exported from S...

Navigating between Footnotes
I can't believe I'm asking this, but here I go: I can't seem to find a keyboard shortcut with which one can navigate between footnotes, up and down (or going to a specific number). Is there one?

Viv,
About the strange footnote numbering and footnote font, perhaps the trick I posted under The Nitty and the Gritty: "A Couple of Conversion Tricks (Word docs to Mellel docs)" might help. It's worked for me.

Re: Mellel vs. Pages...who wins?
I haven't tried the 2008 version, but almost everyone is complaining about it and I doubt just out of a reflex of being a MS hater – if so, why at all did they buy it?) Not to mention that even if, Word was never meant to be a tool for academics. Mellel's missing indexing is admittedly a huge probl...

Re: Mellel styles
(And, yes, I've gone through the guide and the tutorial, but while the concept SOUNDS attractive, the mechanics of it frankly intimidates me. Still, I do believe in the power of Mellel styles . . .!) First, yes, reading the guide and watching the video tutorials on character and paragraph styles an...

Re: Style Variations
I just recently saw that some are upset that they can't replace their styles with the function keys. In my interest to improving the Mellel experience, I'm posting this exchange again. The function keys CAN be used without third-party programs.

Page numbers in citation objects
Hi All, I've been trying to find the answer to this in the Mellel and Bookends user guides but have failed. I've followed the Mellel Guide's directions to enter page numbers in my footnote citations by editing the citation and adding "@" and the page numbers. However, after the scan, inste...

Re: Copying from another software to Mellel
As I upgraded to 2.5, I encountered a pasting problem. I am using OS X 10.5.3 in the Japanese localization with PowerBook G4 12 inch. On this setting, when I copy some Japanese texts from Safari and try to paste onto a Mellel document, the texts become unreadable (mojibake in japanese). I did not e...

Re: Footnotes and *.rtf
Hi Elefantsau, I had the same problem as you. I recommend you take a look at my trick for conversion. It avoids having to reenter the styles, at least for me. See my post under The Nitty and the Gritty: "A Couple of Conversion Tricks (Word docs to Mellel docs)." Hope it helps. It's pretty ...

Re: Couple of Conversion Tricks (Word docs to Mellel docs)
Why not use Find and Replace to convert italics, bold text, underlined text etc. to style variations? You can even build a Find Set that will do all three at the same time to a whole document. Well, I tried that, but even though the appropriate style would be shown as having been changed in the wel...
