Re: Page break and section break for new chapter
Addendum : Yes, that's the easiest way to go. I tested it. Now you have continuous page numbers, footnotes that restart with every new chapter, and every chapter starts on a new page. Thanks for your help with this problem, Icelander! You were indeed correct regarding the solution to this issue. Af...

Re: Page break and section break for new chapter
…which is wrong. You must insert "Page style break" instead. Then set the numbering of your note stream to "Restart every section". Thanks for this suggestion. I tried it but now I have the problem that my page numbers also start from 1 again for each chapter! There must be some...

Re: Find Sets - prompt before replacing?
Thank you for this post Icelander - you are absolutely correct that there is a problem with the "Double Words" Find Set that ships with Mellel. I've been in touch with Mellel Support and they are aware of the issue; I assume that a fix will ship with the next update. That is very interesti...

Page break and section break for new chapter
In auto-titles, I have selected "Section break" in the "insert before" area for each new chapter, as I want my footnotes to begin again at 1 for each chapter. I would also like to start each chapter on a new page, but so far am unable to see how to do this, short of manually inse...

Re: How to make indentation in footnotes consistent?
The only thing I can think of is, that you are nevertheless using two different note-styles. Not paragraph-style in the note, but note-attribute. Go to "insert>note>edit note attributes" and then look at "note symbol - format". The solution must be there. Bülow Thank you, that w...

How to make indentation in footnotes consistent?
I have a defined a style for footnotes which is simply a single spaced version of the style I am using for the body of my text. I noticed that for some reason, there are inconsistent indents between the footnote number and the beginning of the text from one footnote to the next. Looking in paragraph...

Re: Endnotes to Footnotes and Vice Versa
I agree that this would be a very useful feature. I tried to do this recently in Mellel and wasn't able to find a way to do it. Nisus Writer Pro has a Macro that can handle this called "Convert Notes to Text," but obviously that's only useful if you're ready to move your work out of Mellel...

Re: Find Sets - prompt before replacing?
Just in case anyone else has the same question I did: actions like "Double Words" are set up to mark what is found in the text without automatically deleting it. It's possible to review the problem areas by clicking through them using the "Markers" panel. The Find Sets where ther...

Re: Help! Auto-titles made for a page break
Have you tried editing your Title Flows (by opening the Auto-Title palette)? Maybe a page break was somehow defined as an element in your auto-title.

Re: Find Sets - prompt before replacing?
My impression is that there’s an important difference between individual Find Actions and the complex Find Sets that run a sequence of Find Actions one after another. Thanks for the clarification on this, DavidH! I feel like I may be missing something fairly basic here, but is there any way to iden...

Find Sets - prompt before replacing?
I read about Mellel's Find Set feature in a blog post by Ori some time ago, but only got around to trying it out today. It's extremely powerful, and to be able to perform actions like eliminating double spaces in one fell swoop is extraordinary. I was wondering if there is any way for the user to co...

Re: Intermin solutions for working with .mellel docs in ProWritingAid
In case anyone else is interested in proofing their work in Mellel with ProWritingAid, I thought I would share the work-around that I'm using at the moment (it requires access to Nisus Writer Pro): 1) Export file as a .doc in Mellel 2) Open file in Nisus Writer Pro and run "Convert Notes to Tex...

Working with complex doc - Mellel slowing down
I am working on a document which is reasonably long and complex (about 250 pages long, lots of bibliographic references inserted with Bookends, a good number of footnotes, some cross-referencing). I have Live Bibliography turned on. I'm not surprised that Mellel is beginning to groan under the strai...
