Re: Search for long phrases

Hello Amontillado, I'm afraid this method doesn't make any difference either. To get a correct result, make sure your test document consists of multiple *sentences* of different length, not of (single) paragraphs. For test purposes it's best to have only one paragraph, that is, many sentences in one...

Re: Search for long phrases

Here's how you can do this I'm afraid this doesn't solve the problem. The original poster only wants to find sentences which contain 300 characters or more. Sentences containing less characters should not be found. In theory, search criteria, like the following, seem to be the way to go: "Any ...

Re: What kind of "remarks" do you enter in Remarks?

One nice feature in Mellel is the possibility to attach "remarks" to Auto-titles and bookmarks. The feature reminds me vaguely of the legendary old outliner MORE. MORE was written for Classic Mac OS and unfortunately never made it to OS X. I find this particularly sad because MORE has no ...

What kind of "remarks" do you enter in Remarks?

One nice feature in Mellel is the possibility to attach "remarks" to Auto-titles and bookmarks. 1. How many of you are using this feature? 2. What kind of "remarks" exactly do you enter in this field? 3. How many of you would also like to have the ability to export the remarks to...

Re: Indexing based on a word-list

In that non-Mellel product, I have a document with one character style and two paragraph styes. Paragraph one is based on the character style. Paragraph two is based on paragraph one with font attribute changes. […] I made three or four adjustments in the character styles. Then, the paragraphs in t...

Re: Indexing based on a word-list

Inventing the means to extract ASCII versions of Mellel documents is a short afternoon, even if you start from scratch. And exporting the document directly from within Mellel as Plain Text takes even less time. :–) Why choose a thorny, long-winding serpentine country lane when the broad and comfort...

Re: The phpBB forum software and screenshots (to Eyal !)

To me this rather looks like the forum software is outdated because when you click "New Topic" you should see an Attachment tab at the bottom of the page.

The current phpBB version is 3.3.8

Re: Indexing based on a word-list

How do you get to the Mellel xml internals? Are you using a special xml editor? And if so, which one? Nisus […] got quirks. You can say a paragraph style is based on a character style, for example, but changing the underlying character style won't always change the paragraph style. I have not been a...

Re: Indexing based on a word-list

Is there any tool in Mellel allowing to create an index based on a word list? I'm afraid not. It is an extremely convenient feature of Word. It is very rough and there is a lot of work after that of cleansing You can also create multiple types of word lists in Nisus, and no cleansing is necessary. ...

The phpBB forum software and screenshots (to Eyal !)

The Mellel forums use the phpBB forum software , which—I may be wrong—I think is a free software. This software allows users to post screenshots very easily. For some reason, this option has not been enabled by the Redlers. I wonder why… Is it perhaps because such an option involves extra payment by...

Re: "Feature requests" or no "Feature requests". That is here the question…

Thanks for responding, Eyal. Responding to feature requests needs not be a nuisance for the developer. Just say, (1) "Thanks for the feature request. I have added your vote to our list." or (2) "Hard to implement. Will take long time." or (3) "This feature is unlikely to be ...

Re: Location of Endnotes amd bibliographies

Getting old and forgetful was just a silly joke. Glad you didn't find it offensive. :–) perhaps the method could be used at the very end, after the manuscript is complete. That would be a very bad solution. the citations would not be automatically corrected if the reference in the Bookends library w...

Re: Location of Endnotes amd bibliographies

OK, boys and gals… Here you have a solution that should work. 1. Create a Static Group in Bookends for each article (chapter) in the book. If the book has 10 chapters, you will need 10 Static Groups. 2. When entering citations in Mellel, do it exclusively via the "Citation" command (Edit >...

"Feature requests" or no "Feature requests". That is here the question…

In the past, people have often requested new features in the forums. Never, ever have I seen a reply to such requests from the developer. Therefore my question is now: Is this the right place to post 'Feature requests' ? Or is one always supposed to contact the developer directly? In case this quest...
