Re: keyboard navigation
Can anyone tell me if there is a way via keyboard shortcuts to move from the outline to the main document? The tab key works for me. And to and from the main document to the footnotes? I know I can get out of the footnotes with the escape, but can I get "into" them with just my keyboard? ...

Re: Snow Leopard's spell checker means something different
Nisus Writer Pro has a special ability to open HTML documents, better than any of the other programs, as far as I can see. It's ability to work with multiple languages is inferior to Mellel's, but reasonably okay. But Nisus Writer Pro is not my word processing program of first choice, primarily bec...

Re: What's happened to the separator lines?
I knew there had to be a simple solution -- the space above and below the separator line was set at 0 points. Changing this brought the separator lines back. But why would this setting have been suddenly changed in all my documents? Anyway, all is well again. Thanks for your help.

Re: What's happened to the separator lines?
Thank you for the suggestions, but as I mentioned, resetting the separator lines doesn't bring them back. I tried setting a different kind of separator line with a different width, but still no separator line appears. I created a new document, and again no separator line. I downloaded and installed ...

What's happened to the separator lines?
After upgrading to 2.7, I've found that the separator lines between the main text and footnotes have disappeared in all my documents (or at least all the ones I have checked so far), and resetting the separator line does not bring it back. Has anyone else experienced this? And, more importantly, how...

Re: how to get correct modern fractions
Some OpenType fonts support arbitrary fractions Not just Open Type fonts -- Times, for example, has 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4. In addition, Spell Catcher has a Convert Fractions function, so that if you type, for example, "1/4" followed by a space, it will be automatically converted into a proper ...

Re: Mellel shortcuts
An alternative is to use the free plug-in PlaintextPaste, which allows you to paste plain text with Command-Shift-V, which is at least an improvement over Mellel's default shortcut. I don't know whether it works in Leopard, but I've been using it for years without any problems. http://www.pozytron.c...

Re: Unable to paste CJK into Mellel
It is interesting to learn that others are not having any problem pasting or opening CJK files in Mellel. If the problem does not lie with Mellel, what could be causing it? And why doesn't it happen when pasting or opening the same files in other programmes? (Perhaps I should mention that I am still...

Re: Unable to paste CJK into Mellel
I recently realised that something similar happens with Pages too. If I open a Japanese Word document in Pages, copy it, and paste it into Mellel, everything is garbled. If I open the same document in Nisus, copy it, and paste it into Mellel, there is no problem. But a Japanese file exported from Sc...

Unable to paste CJK into Mellel
Since the latest Mellel update I have found that when copying text containing CJK from Scrivener and pasting it into Mellel, all CJK characters are garbled. Exporting from Scrivener as RTF and importing into Mellel produces the same result, as does opening the RTF file in Nisus, copying it, and past...

Re: No highlighted word in search bug?
I think you will find that the greying out of the "Find" text occurs in other applications too, including Apple's own Preview and Pages. But interestingly it doesn't happen in Nisus (perhaps because it has its own preferences for customizing various highlight colours?).

Re: Export oddity
If I recall correctly, Times Extended Roman was recommended on another forum for its extensive repertoire, and on checking now I find that my version has 1,334 characters as opposed to 1,276 for Times and only 290 for Times New Roman (I'm still on 10.4). But thanks for alerting me to the fact that o...

Export oddity
I have recently noticed that when exporting as RTF a Mellel document using Times Extended Roman (which I was under the impression is a Unicode font), letters with an umlaut, circumflex, grave, acute, and tilde are converted into Cyrillic letters, while macrons, breves, underdots, etc., export withou...
