Re: Tables Numbering

This is definitely possible using autotitles. In the "edit autotitles" dialog, press the "add" button to add a new autotitle flow, and name it "table". The "format" field should have a "previous number" element that will contain your chapter number, ...

MathType 6.7

...and Mellel don't play together nicely anymore. It looks as though MathType isn't inserting baseline-adjustment information into the PICT file for copy/paste. As a result, equations float above (sometimes way above) the adjacent text :( MathType 6.7 seems like a MAJOR downgrade in general -- scrol...

Re: Change paragraph classes

In the "File" menu, there is a "Replace styles..." item. That lets you replace named character and paragraph styles with other styles. Does that help?

Re: Problems with right alignment in ToC

Not really. Mellel tries to put the 63 in the line, it doesn't fit so it moves it to the next line. This means that the next line starts with the 63, and the 63 is placed at the beginning of the next line. Ok, but do you think that's how it should work? It's a little unintuitive, when you want your...

Re: Now that Lion is out…

I switched to lion and scroll doesn't work. Sure, I can use the mouse, and I can page up and down, but I need to be able to click on the scroll icon in the vertical scroll bar and move it up or down a few pages or a hundred pages, etc., which I no longer can do. In my testing, you can scroll to mak...

Re: Hello

Looking again at the image, I think you're right. But I'm pretty sure that 2.9 will satisfy your needs in any case.

Re: Hello

Looks like ahankinson is using 2.9 beta, which supports true small caps. 2.8 does not. DRM PS Welcome MonEsVil! I wrote my entire doctoral thesis in Mellel, and it was a charm. Most of the typesetting that I needed (wanted) could be accomplished in Mellel. I would have liked letter-spacing justifica...

Re: Citation Format Overrides

I'm not sure about the OP's issue, although he/she might want to check the bibliography preferences in Mellel, and make sure the mappings from bookends input to Mellel styles is set properly. However, I have also observed the second issue, where scanned text suddenly changes format. This sometimes h...

Re: Writing in Mellel

What about using a (latex or other) formula editor to produce the layout you described, and pasting it into Mellel?

I would like to add (to my "no" vote), that a proper, documented XML format for Mellel files would make third-party translators easy to implement...

Re: LaTeX equations in Mellel

Ugh, that's a real shame, but (I hope) not the wrong choice. LaTeX is only the right choice either for collaborative authorship with other latex-using people, or if your papers are so math-heavy that there's no other choice. Even word+equation editor is probably a better choice. Why should you have ...

Re: LaTeX equations in Mellel

Latexit is a little dumb — when it outputs an equation, there is no baseline adjustment information attached which could allow Mellel to automatically align the equation correctly with the text. I played around with several equation typesetting systems for the mac and Mellel, and found only MathType...

I also think it's a great idea. It's a little unfair of Apple to prohibit people who use the app from commenting, just because they didn't buy through the app store. The app store even recognises that I have Mellel installed!

Re: Auto-Title tables

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the problem, but when you edit the autotitle setup, you can enter any text you want instead of "table". I don't know about the RTL issue, but I also note that at the top right of the autotitle setup panel there is a selection box for "left to right" and...
