Re: small request for Find and Replace (blocking sections)
To make this work, I think we need a "select all occurrences of a style" feature, (e.g. select all "body") - not only would this have a benefit for word count purposes,(http://forum.mellel.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1841&hilit=+occurrences#p13665), but also ... ... you could...

Re: iCloud...
I think your problem is to do with the difference between icloud "storage" (supported by OS X 10.9) and "iCloud Drive" (supported from OS X 10.10). Finder treats them differently. Quite probably all your files are there in OS X 10.10. They would be in the folder user-name/library...
Re: Index
You could export to rtf and make an index in LibreOffice... though the export-import process will almost certainly introduce other complications...

Re: Newbie Question: Outlines in Mellel
If I'm understanding you correctly, what you're wanting is to set-up "Auto-titles". These will show up in the outline pane.
Insert>auto-title>edit title flows

I think an app called "Ukelele" does what you're after: http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page ... id=ukelele

Possible to Hide Comments?
Is it possible to hide all visual traces of comments (including the yellow boxes which mark where they fit into the text)? Using iWork Pages, I like to create lecture notes to print for students, then I use comments to add extra notes for myself as lecturer. That way I can "hide all markup"...

Re: Exporting Mellel styles
Styles>Edit style set
Then in the "style set" box: duplicate your current set, give it a name and click "make style set global" (at the bottom).
You can then apply this set of styles by clicking the "styles" menu in new documents.

Re: Protecting a file from editing changes
The drop down arrow nxte to the filename (at the top of the document window) has a checkbox to make the file "locked". Is this what you are looking for?

Re: Footnote character (tabs, etc.)
Can you just set the indent/tab on the ruler, then save changes to your footnote paragraph style?
(In Insert>note>edit note attributes you can set note format to "#. + Tab")

Re: Arabic Fonts - how many & which are there?
Geeza Pro and Baghdad seem to be default Mac system fonts (though in Snow Leopard I think Geeza Pro was buggy). You can check which Arabic fonts you have installed by opening "Font Book" (from your applications folder). Then in the left hand column there should be an "Arabic" col...
