Hi Stephen, It's possible Mellel worked differently at the time that tutorial was written, or it's possible I don't understand some aspect of the 'Global' functionality... We may have to wait for someone to correct me or confirm what I said. More importantly, though: Does the current functionality l...
That's the way it works. When you create a Style Set, it's automatically Global. The only time you'll see a Style Set that isn't Global is when you open up a document whose Style Set isn't already defined in your copy of Mellel. For example, if a colleague sends you a Mellel file with containing a n...

By the way, the Redlers are aware of the lack of table sorting in Mellel, as it compares to other apps like Word:

Did you know that you can use the same key combination to go backwards through the list of running applications, after invoking the list with Command-tab? Wow... I didn't know that. I thought the only way to move backwards through the cmd+tab list was cmd+shift+tab... Your way is easier on the fing...

JoeWiz, how do you have yours set? Basically i want everything that comes from Bookends to stay as it is- bold=bold, italics=italics, etc. And I want the in-text citations to have the same paragraph formatting as its surrounding. Should I adjust it to a certain paragraph style? My In-text citations...

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately this does not seem to change anything. I have it set to not replace the paragraph or character styles that are sent from Bookends, yet it is putting it in-text citations to 10pt font. i can't figure out why. So in the Bibliography Preferences pane, you have Parag...

Re: Bookends citations post-scan
I can't find anywhere in the preferences or the userguide that says bibliographic material from Bookends is tied to a particular character style. How can I get Mellel to keep the in-text citations at 12pt font? The preference for this is set in Mellel > Preferences > Bibliography > Replace. Click o...

Re: "Don't enclose final citation" and Bookends Pr
Hi all... I've been trying to figure out the integration with Bookends and have noticed a problem.. the "Don't enclose final citation" does not seem to work. I check the box, append something like: \, 289.\ to the end of it, produce a Chicago 15th footnotes, and I still get the period whi...

yes, it is in the main text. A few are in footnotes as well, but the footnotes do not have BE citations. In that case, this is a huge bug (on Mellel's side, I'd guess), and you should send your Mellel document and Bookends database -- with steps to reproduce the buggy output -- to the Redlers so th...

Re: typographer's quotes post scan becoming straight
I have typographer's quotes turned on in my Mellel preferences. In the document, they all look fine. After I do a bibliography scan to add the citations from Bookends, I am finding random quotes and apostrophe's that have become straight quotes in the text, while others have stayed curly. It is com...
