Re: Mellel vs. Pages...who wins?

I know someone who did its dissertation with Pages : so obvisously, it's possible. But if you want the best program for the job, your only choice is either Mellel or Word.. For everything above 100 pages, Word is no option, at least if you care about your mental health. So please, let's be a little...

Re: Wishlist for version 2.6

Maybe this is overed under 17, but what I miss most is "page break before paragraph". And something I really want: 36. Multiple bibliographies in one document. This could be done either on Mellel's side or on the side of the reference manager, but the idea is that you can define that a spe...

Re: Where are cross references / text flow around images?

I think it's been said that anyone who uses LaTeX starts looking for a replacement immediately. Definitely not true. I wrote my PhD thesis with LaTeX, I couldn't have done it with any other app and I don't regret it the least. Sure, if there had been something better, I had used that, but so far no...

I was quite suprised when I noticed that neither Mellel nor OmniOutliner etc. (not even in the actual betas) supported QuickLook. Apparantly it is harder to implement than I thought. Hope we will get it soon though. It's a great feature. Bensch Maybe it depends on the kind of data, but BibDesk had ...

I do not only see no reason why 2.5 should require Leopard, it will also be quite stupid business-wise. It would mean that the big majority all current users couldn't update unless they bought Leopard (same for potential new buyers).

Just wanted to let you know that BibDesk got a lot more user friendly, since it now has a graphical interface to create the output templates. Not all the functionality is available through the interface and everything is brand new, so there probably are glitches. You can check it out with the latest...

"Different first page" is an absolute must IMO. I actually thought that Mellel already does this, and only found out recently to my big surprise that this isn't implemented yet. Definitely a must. I also think that it makes sense to put page margins there although this doesn't seem so impo...

Ok, Endnote X1 is available for download http://www.endnote.com/endemo.asp . What's new: Use AppleScript to automate repetitive tasks. BTW, the 686 pages pdf documentation says nothing at all about AppleScript, you have to check the online for this. I'm curious to see whether this improves exchange...

As long as they don't support external bibliography apps, Pages is not interesting for academic writing. Although I love the biblio palette in Mellel, keep in mind that Bookends still works pretty well if you just insert citations and then scan. I don't know how well it works in Pages though. Certa...
