3.0 Wish List
Ok, so my last thread was in praise of Mellel 2.9, but in the spirit of moving forward, I figured we can start collecting wishes for the next version. My biggest wish is the ability to add comments. For the record, I find Word's, Nisus' and Pages' handling of comments cumbersome (lumped in the same ...

Re: Choppy deletion
Could you copy/paste the output of the console here? That might help. I suggested page styles because a "pageModel" sounds like it might have something to do with page layouts. That's only a guess, though. I can't seem to replicate it on my machine. What OS/hardware are you running? Are yo...

Re: Choppy deletion
Does this occur across different style sets? It might be something related to Page Styles. When you reinstalled Mellel, did your old styles still show up? It might be a corrupted style set. Quit Mellel, then go to your home directory -> Library (if you're on Lion, this will be hidden  Hold dow...

Re: Mellel 2.9 - landscape not possible
The File->Document Setup... has been removed, since you now manage your page layout in the page styles. This means that you can now have multiple page styles per document so that you can, e.g., have both landscape and portrait pages in a single document (you couldn't before). It might take you a whi...

Re: Palettes behavior
If you have the List palette docked with others, it will fade out the whole group. This includes if it's docked with all the palettes. If you break off the list palette and then select window->list, it will just fade the list palette out. Maybe not completely intuitive, but I think that's the way it...

Re: Two types of page margins? And: German localisation
The Page palette should reflect the current state of your document; the Page style dialogue, however, sets up a page style which is then applied to the whole document. If you want to have different page styles in a document, you use a page style break. In my testing, setting a value in the Page pale...

Mellel 2.9 is fantastic
I just wanted to give a note of praise to the Redlers for a fine release. I've been using 2.9 in Beta, but now that it's out I'd like to say "thanks" for a job well done! The new page layout system is great, and I'm really digging the new toolbar and palette appearance. And I hope the new ...

Re: Auto-Titles configurations
Way back when I learned how Mellel works it took me a while to figure this out too: -> Select the objects in your Auto-Title (e.g., Current Number, etc.) -> Use the menus *in the menubar* to apply the appropriate character/paragraph style to it. Usually menubar things do not act on things in dialogu...

Because they're too busy working on Mellel?
Re: Hello
I can confirm that I am running both 2.8 and 2.9 beta, but I didn't want to "let the cat out of the bag" because I don't know if the Redlers want to keep it under wraps. That said: I have confirmed that Mellel 2.9 beta fixes your issue and that you can get true small caps with larger initi...

Re: Advice on Upgrading
I ran Mellel 2.8 on a 2002 Powerbook G4 up until this spring with no problems. I would upgrade to Leopard, but you should be otherwise fine.
Re: Hello
That's very strange, since I get this:
Maybe check it with another font, just to be sure?
Maybe check it with another font, just to be sure?
Re: Hello
For your first request, set up a character style (call it "Surname" or something like that), and set it to Small Caps. Assign it a keyboard shortcut in the Style Set dialogue (Style Set -> Edit style sets...). When you get to entering in a surname, use the keyboard shortcut to switch into ...

Re: Mellel and Lion
Some of the bashing of Mellel probably would be better done on a "neutral" site rather than on the Mellel board. Since many users here love Mellel, what good does it do to come here only to constantly complain? If another processor is preferred, fine, switch. Go to the new app's board and...
