Mellel does not read RTF comments but author's name
Mellel does not read RTF comments (coming from Scrivener ; they do work in Nisus ). I didn't know it does read them at all but now comes the weird part: The comments are not simply ignored but instead of the content of the comment the name of its author gets imported! So it seems that Mellel has th...

Re: Underlined becomes double-underlined in PDF
Janet, thank you so much for your patience. I have played around with all possible settings and finally I got the single underlining I wanted. Since I had done nothing than define a bunch of character styles which I attached to a bunch of (same-named) paragraph styles which again I attached to the h...

Re: Underlined becomes double-underlined in PDF
Thanks, Janet. I had searched the forum before I opened this topic but only for 'underlined' and not for 'underlining'. My bad. The other threat though does not contain a solution for my problem. I happen to get the unwanted double-underlining in Preview . is it possible that you defined the underli...

Underlined becomes double-underlined in PDF
I use underlined headings and when I print to PDF these headings are double-underlined.
The underlining is not done manually but defined in a character style which is attached to the structural element.

Re: No OpenType font replacement when importing rtf
For anyone beside me who might be interested in this: The problem is solved. I had to clean the OS font cache and. Now exporting to Mellel works fine ( OpenOffice and NeoOffice still do not recognize the font correctly). Now when opening the rtf file Mellel does not detect four different fonts (regu...

Re: scan citations help
What does the font and paragraph palette say when you click into a footnote? Are really the font and paragraph styles you created active or something else? Check under Insert/Annotations/Settings (the menu items are names approximately like that; I use Mellel with a German UI so I can just guess how...

Re: how to get correct modern fractions
The bigger non-OpenType font families often have "exp" ("expert") fonts containing a bigger number of fractions. But however many these are, it's still a limited number of fractions. If you need more than just a fraction here and there then, like Janet said, you will need a mathe...

Re: Paragraph Style within Paragraph Style
The way I'm handling this has been the same for years (and not only in Mellel ) and it works like a charm (at least for me, that is): Every non-headline paragraph style actually is two paragraph styles: One for every first paragraph and one for the following ones. In "p1" I set "p2&qu...

Re: Paste text and have it take on current styles?
It's the standard Mac way: cmd+v pastes and keeps the styles of the source, cmd+shift+opt+v pastes and matches styles. Which means that if the pasted text contained italic or bold elements they will get flattened.

No OpenType font replacement when importing rtf
I got a problem with font replacement. My standard font is an OpenType font (the problem is not related to this font alone, I tested other OpenType fonts and it was all the same). When I export texts, mostly from Scrivener (the problem is not related to Scrivener's rtf export, it's just the same wit...

Re: Cannot scan citations to create bibliography
Yes you are missing something. The proper way to get citations from Bookends into Mellel is to either drag & drop them or to to click cmd-y in Mellel to get to Bookends , select a reference in your Bookends database and to click cmd-y again (assuming you set Bookends as the reference manager in ...

Re: Styles, BE, footnotes
Soliphint--my apologies. I only use cmd-y; I do not scan documents . When I enter a footnote reference in Mellel, hit cmd-y, and choose ref from Bookends, the ref (which is in correct format, with italics, in the Bookends preview window) appears as footnote in my Mellel doc but has lost its italics...
