Re: mellel beta

There is no big secret and (as a beta tester myself) I don't think we're sworn to secrecy. The beta testing is essentially over the next full version should be out soon. It's excellent and those who have been waiting for cross-refs will be very pleased. It's heaps better than the cross-refs for Nisu...

Re: Spell checker

Oh, thanks! I suspected at much, but wonder how 'cs' came to mean 'Czech' (perhaps from ye olde days of Czechoslovakia?).

Thanks R. P.

Re: Spell checker

cocoAspell looks interesting, but when I try to see if they do Czech it just takes me to an ftp site with abbreviated files I don't understand ('cs' something, might that be Czech – why can't they just have a list?!).

Re: Should I use Mellel?

I wish I could go back in time and have the Mellel–Bookends combination to write my Ph.D. thesis. I actually used AppleWorks!

Why is Word compatibility so important? If it's just to send drafts to your supervisor then don't worry, Mellel will be fine.

Re: syncing to iDisk

It works a dream for me. I have a folder on my iDisk called something like 'articles and books backup' and after working I drop the ones I had been working on into the folder. When I access them from work –presto – there they are. I wonder if you have identical style sets on the different machines? ...

Re: Warnock Pro Problems

Thanks for this. It's strange that I should suddenly have this problem (it seems spontaneous). Should I ditch the Bookends and/or Mellel preference files?

Warnock Pro Problems

I cannot figure this one out. Ever since I started using the Mellel 2.5 beta Warnock Pro will not work correctly with Bookends. I don't think the problem is necessarily with the beta software because the same problem occurs with my 'old' version as well. What happens is that when I scan a document i...

So far, the signs are excellent in the Beta 2.5 for x-refs. I recommend a holiday to sunny... Tel Aviv?

Indexing in Mellel

Will indexing be included one of the updates after 2.5? I had really hoped it would make it into 2.5, but if it's coming shortly after I'll be glad to hear it.

Re: What does NWP 1.1 preview mean for Mellel?

I've downloaded the Nisus demo and it looks great. However, despite it's great looks (and the look and feel of it really is good) I'm already disappointed with the way it handles 'autotitles' compared to Mellel. Keeping with that, you can't then drag chapters and subsections the way you can in Melle...

Re: Will someone tell me it's going to be OK?

Ori, Thanks so much for this message. Once I got in the flow of my writing I haven't been on the forum as often as I once was when I had just converted to Mellel; and this meant that my information on updates (indexing, etc.) were less often. This, in itself, is a real testament to how well your wor...

Re: Will someone tell me it's going to be OK?

Thanks. I'm not going to finish this book any time soon, but a few comments on the board have scared me a bit, implying that the future of Mellel isn't healthy. As for the update, I can wait.

Will someone tell me it's going to be OK?

Is there any news about the future of Mellel? I really love the application and I am now well into a large book project and would just hate to find another word processor. I used to see at least one of the brothers on the forums all the time, now I seldom do. Perhaps I'm just panicking and in a few ...
