I agree that the proper way to manage styles is from the relevant dialogue or menu. The thing I said is effectively a bug (in my opinion) is the way that you can seem to change the style of an auto-title in that the details in the palette change while the text appearance remains the same. I don't s...

I must disagree with the 2 previous posters. I don't feel that it's a bug in any way, and I don't feel that it's a problem with the UI. If you use styles, the proper way to manage them is frrom the edit style dialogue, either from the appropriate menu (Character, Paragraph, &c.) or from the edit...

The reason that Auto–Titles' styles have to edited and changed from the Auto–Title editor dialogue is because each element of the Auto–Title can have a different character style. Perhaps future revisions will make a character style to a selected Auto–Title propogate through all elements of the Auto–...

Out of sheer curiosity, I'd like to know why there's the desire to have the Redlers furnish a printed copy of the same manual they supply with each version online in a hardcopy form, versus printing out the exact same material yourself. (I'm sorry if it sounds condescending or anything of that natur...

Re: Maybe it's me...

Perhaps I'm not explaining myself properly. I would like to be able to click on a style in the Paragraph style and have list features as part of that. In other words with one click, I can apply bullets and any other formatting. You can do this in InDesign, once the style is set up. You can do it in...

In lieu of selling the full manual (which is sure to change with each major version upgrade, not to mention the errata that would need to be included/updated for each minor version upgrade), why not maintain something that can be printed as a brochure/quick-start guide. This is especially true if yo...

Of course you can set the character and paragraph settings of the number for a list style separately than from the text of the list items. In the Edit style sets dialogue, choose the list style you wish to modify. Then in the resulting screen, you can choose the character style (and variation) for e...

I wouldn't mourn the loss of the numeral on the icon - I can only imagine it was a rush job that inspired it - or even an icon makeover, but I'm extremely happy with the minimalist interface. Tweak the icon by all means, but leave the interface as-is! Actually, I feel there are a few interface chan...

You certainly can. Just create an Auto–Title, and it'll also appear in your outline pane, allow you to generate a TOC, and show up in mentions. However, it's not quite "inline", as an Auto–Title must be the first element in a paragraph and cannot be preceded by other text; text after the A...

There has been a request for more option in the replace styles dialogue, however Word import options are always going to be minimal. For cross-platform exchange Mellel's strength has always been its RTF support. This is because all Word support is borrowed from the system itself. Mellel on OS X 10.2...

If you're looking for different styles for different levels, then no, it cannot be done. However, if you just want different styles for list items than for the rest of your document, then yes, you can create those. Just check out the style sets dialogue, and create new List styles. (And no, I don't ...

I guess this is an Adobe problem and not a Mellel problem. Thanks for all the information, and I'll try to find out more from Abode. Actually, it's neither's problem. The reason it occurs in the Adobe fonts is not because of an encoding problem, but because the font simply does not contain those ch...

I just used the US Extended keyboard layout to enter every alphabetic character (lower and upper case) with a caron above it. I then reviewed the output with several different fonts, including most all of the Adobe Pro OpenType fonts in my library, and was very surprised with the results. Going acro...

rpcameron, with your approach, does that mean the only numbering for figures is from 1 to whatever number you got? i set up an auto-title to take care of the chapter and section such that it would show something like Figure 3.6 or Figure 4.2. No, actually the "1" after the word figure was...
