Re: Misformed arabic (Persian) script in the find dialog
I've already replied to nFamily in person but just for the record. Here's my reply This sounds like a known issue with Geeza Pro on snow leopard, see this discussion: http://forum.redlers.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2180 I'm not sure if Apple did eventually fix the problem, it might be worth a shot ...

Re: Free updates for life?
I fully agree with ahankinson. What I want is frequent updates, excellent service, continuous staff presence on the forum; for this, I would be very glad to pay every now and then an upgrade fee. But unfortunately, in recent years we have seen more or less the opposite. Free updates for life? Would...

Re: Free updates for life?
Regarding the iPad: We are working on this. The iPad is real challenge, not so much from the technical perspective but rather from the UI design perspective. We are working on making this a companion product to the Mac version and in the process we will make some changes to they way the mac version ...

Re: Export from Mellel 2.8
The "Author color" is not part of the exported or imported information. RTF doesn't accommodate this (colors are assigned automatically by the program)

Re: Free updates for life?
How is RedleX going to be able to deliver on the promise of "free updates for life", when that may not be possible? There is no reason to believe that it will be impossible. Ori was referring to the fact that we believe that in the (not so) long run most/all of software sales will be done...

Re: XSD or DTD?
As I've mentioned before, we plan to address the documentation/DTD issue after 2.8 is out. With that in mind, I'm not really sure the time we'll invest in this will be well spent. We would love to have 3 parties produce programs that process Mellel documents but so far we saw very little in that reg...

Re: XSD or DTD?
The documentation is indeed a bit out of date. We received very little response to the xml format that we simply felt that it was a waste of time updating it. We'd rather invest the time in adding functionality to the program then laboring over something nobody seems to care about. I hope to address...

Re: XSD or DTD?
Hi Everybody, Regarding Mellel's xml documentation. Here's a link. http://www.redlers.com/melleldevelopers.html, it's actually been there for a few years. I'm afraid we don't have more formal description for Mellel's xml. How would a DTD help you? Same for a namespace: How would that make for a bett...

Re: In case of emergency…
Hi Everybody, We are aware that the long silence is worrying but rest assured that we are: 1. Alive and well (not that we would mind being able to deliver more updates and be more responsive in the forums) 2. Working on Mellel 2.8 and beyond. We make it our policy not to discuss the upcoming feature...

Re: Version Stability
We haven't received any reports about problems with Mellel 2.7.3 under 10.4 and I think it is quite safe to upgrade. Still, if you want to make sure you'll be able to restore the old version, make a backup copy of the following items: 1. Preferences file: ~/Library/Preferences/com.redlex.mellel.plis...

Re: Stability problems with Mellel 2.7.3
It sounds as if something is causing Mellel to leak memory very rapidly when you run it for a long time, it could a bug with Mellel but we didn't receive any similar reports so it is more likely some problem with a third party software. Can you try to disable all exotic software and see if this help...

I'm afraid that at the moment there is no support for Kashida with Syriac We should probably enable this.

Re: Snow Leopard - not related to Style Sets or fonts
An upgrade is indeed the only option here. I don't think you should worry about the added bells an whistles. When we add features we try really hard to make sure that they don't get in the way and allow you to continue using Mellel as you did (unless you actually want to use them). If you don't care...

Re: Typing Speed in a not-so large document is very slow
Are you using very long paragraphs? If so, then it might be the reason for the bad typing performance. Otherwise it may be worth checking, maybe its a bug. If you send us the document we will be able to investigate and fix this issue.
