Re: Problems Exporting to Word Doc
No I thought you did not use font variations, but I can see that you are using styles. Using font variations is not a question of difference, it is just doing the styles more thoroughly: within the character style, say Body which gives you TNR12, you create 'font variations' i.e. bold, Italics and s...

Re: Problems Exporting to Word Doc
There is something wrong with your style-sheet, but I cannot figure out what it is. I do this sort of thing very often - mostly from Word to Mellel, but also the other way - and it works splendidly. Your text, however, does exactly as you describe when I convert it to rtf (I do not have Word, but op...

Re: Placement of footnote separator
Well, this is not the same problem, but anyway:
There seems to be no way in Mellel not to have a footnote separator, but perhaps yours has been set to be white? Go to insert>note>edit note attributes and see if the colour of your separator has not been set to white.

Re: Footnote position
I want it placed at the bottom of the page. Yes, that would be nice, wouldn't it? I thought it was a bug, when I complained about it a long time ago, but was told that it wasn't. Perhaps some day? At the same time, one could dream about being able to decide the order in which notes from different n...

Re: No palettes in full screen?
OSX 10.7.5 Mellel 3.3.7b5 downloaded directly from Mellel server. Toggling back and forth with ^+cmd+F works and in full screen I even get two palettes, while normally, on a 15” screen, I only get one group.

Re: Open with previous files
No, it is not so obvious. You find it, not in Mellel, but in system preferences (the apple at the top left) > 'general' and a little way down, where you should tick the box 'restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps.' That is in OSX 10.7.5. It may of course be different in the newer versions.

Re: What's this space?
That one took me a moment as well. It is the space where comments, outline structure &c are shown. At the very bottom, left corner of your Mellel workspace, there is is an icon imitating a page with a column of text to the left. Click that, and the nuisance disappears - and can be called back ag...

find/replace
I am sure it is right under my nose, but where is the 'Element menu' in Find and Replace. I used to use it quite a bit, not least the 'anything' when you want to search for a style or whatever in the document. http://www.connectnw.com/redlers/MellelGuide.pdf which used to contain the MellelGuide is ...

Re: Spelling in an rtf export
The problem must surely be in Word. What happens if you send your colleague rtf for him to import into Word?

Re: Confused about use of the paragraph style
I have tried to emulate your problem and I believe the reason is that writing direction is not one of the parameters you set with paragraph style. So when you change paragraph style, direction stays where it was in the previous paragraph. Just click on the direction-arrow and you should be OK.

Re: Dictionary and Spelling
Thanks, that I know already. The point is how to "unlearn" a previously wrongly learned word? I can't find it either. One used to (or was it in another program?) be able to call up a list of learned words and edit it. In Library>application support>Mellel>learned words there are two list,...

Re: Keyboard shortcuts for changing case?
Please be a little more specific. Do you mean that you want to change e.g. the word Italics into Italics in the whole document? If so, this is perfectly possible with Find & Replace. But if it is something else you want, please explain.

Re: Footnote Style Problems after RTF Import
Incidentally, I don't think that the things in the *dropdown* menu are styles. Declan Of course the options you see in the dropdown ‘note styles’ are note (paragraph) styles. In fact, the options you mention are the default note styles defined in the default style set. When you import rtf it will a...
