Place your cursor inside the line somewhere and press command+right arrow, and see where Mellel moves your cursor. Essentially, Mellel interprets end of line as the position to the right of the last character. This seems logical to me. If you want the cursor to be to the right of the blank space in...

Slightly off topic -- Prices for OpenType Hebrew Fonts

I promised I'd notify the group if Studio Rosenberg [Masterfont in Israel] had a special on their Opentype Hebrew fonts that support NIKUD. Well, they do have a sale in place till 1 January, but I only found out about it today. The prices start at $300 for 33 "weights." They also throw in ...

I think you misunderstood my problem: I think the placement of the cursor at the end of the justified sentence is wrong. It should be visually placed after the space, where it logically belongs. Sorry, Michael, I disagree. There's no right or wrong here. There's a choice. Since trailing blanks have...

Confusing -- yes. Bug -- no. Let's call it a " feature." When you use [left and right] justified text or centered text, the system, correctly, does not include trailing blanks when calculating text position. >> you can test this by centering a short phrase. Add as many trailing blanks as y...

I'm sorry to be so cagy about this, but my paper hasn't been submitted for publication and I'm not sending any of my PhD research to anyone until it has been acccepted. Paul, I understand your reluctance. Try this: cut just the chapter in which the problem occurs out of the entire thesis. Is the pr...

then for those looking to replicate the issue, the keystroke is Cmd+Z, not Ctrl+Z. I've tried Cmd+Z and simple Edit/Undo; I've tried with both balanced and unbalanced columns, but no joy. This is going to turn out to be some complex combination of factors. I suggest that 'pds1602' send a copy of th...

I also can't reproduce the problem. I had a problem some time ago with sections that turned out to be a "legacy." My document was based on an old document that was based on an older one that was based .... Somewhere along the line a faulty parameter had crept in. The solution was to start ...

If you only need to enter special characters here and there, you could use the Mac OS X character palette. It seems a bit of overkill to use the Character Palette to get at characters that are easily available in many fonts. Even using Favorites as Nicka suggests is much more clumsy than simply swi...

Re: Inserting special characters

I need to insert a lot of characters from the Greek alphabet, things like Tau, Gamma, Theta, etc. How do I do that in Mellel as these aren't available from the menus? Have you tried using a Secondary Font? Even if your Main Font includes Greek characters, you can define it as the Secondary Font as ...

I observe that Koreen is available in TrueType, Psotscript, and Opentype formats. Which do you have?

Re: New page when I dont want it

I got behind some paragraphs a page change. The character and paragraph styles are the same in the following paragraphs. Could your problem be caused by the "Keep Lines Together" option in paragraph styles? [Also known as "widows and orphans."] Check out the Mellel Tutorial for ...

Janet: I tried exactly what you wrote, but the position of the table is not changing. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing wrong. Oops! You're right -- I was sure I'd gotten this to work in the past. In any case, you can place your curser on the right-most border [for right-to-left tables like ...

your suggestion works for text orientation within the table but not for the table orientation on the page. Or have I misunderstood something? Yes, you've misunderstood. You have to treat the table just as you would treat an image. Take your cursor outside the table into the regular text. Now highli...
