Re: sentence last sentence in a paragraph.
Surely there has to be a limit to the number of bells and whistles added to a program. The writer has some responsibility for formatting his/her own work. I don't see why Mellel should burden itself with strange ideas of what some writer imagines looks good. If some such thing as this is really want...

Re: set background to fill whole line
The tab method is a good one. As for the far right margin tab, it is true that you cannot set the right tab precisely at the right margin, but you can set it at 100th of a point before the right margin, which results in a "gap" too small for the eye to see, and pretty certainly beyond the ...

Re: set background to fill whole line
The simplest thing is to use a single cell table with a grey background; with the table palette set the lines to "none". Then center your text in the cell and type it out. I have tried this, the results are excellent One cell table example.jpg Another way is to type your Title line as you ...

Re: spelling and grammar checker
Mellel does not support the Snow Leopard grammar checker. I very much hope it never will do so, grammar is far too subjective and also personal to be left to mechanical analysis.

Re: losing paragraph styles
The diamond indicates merely that the particular pagragraph style is not part of the currently selected styleset. There is no need to do anything about it, usually. But if for some reason you would feel better without the diamonds, go into your StyleSet Menu and select the style with which you creat...

Re: The Newly Revised Mellel Tutorial for Mellel 2.7.1
The Mellel version of the Tutorial downloads from the Redlers' site with no problems, for me. I have just re-downloaded it to be certain. I think the problem must be at your end. The Mellel file is 16.4MB. Might there be a problem with your downloading such a large file?

The Newly Revised Mellel Tutorial for Mellel 2.7.1
Because the Beginners Tutorial for Mellel 2.7 suffered from reproduction problems (caused by having to use two or more compression operations in order to get the size down to one that the Mail programs would accept), I have worked a great deal on getting the Tutorial into proper shape, and it is now...

Re: Header collapses when edited
This is an inevitable consequence of the way that Mellel proceeds. The elasticity of the depth of the headers and footers allows for so many valuable things that I would hate to lose it. The simplest solution immediately available, to my mind, would be to make a keyboard shortcut for page style so t...

Re: Image in wrapped text, with caption in proper place.
I agree: my proposal does not begin to meet all the requirements for the purpose. Like many workarounds, it works for only some purposes, but not for all. That said, a person thoroughly familiar with using the professional graphics programs -- in some instances, using more than one for a specific im...

Re: Image in wrapped text, with caption in proper place.
cat pic 2.jpg It has been asked that I give more detail and an illustration, so here it is. I think Grab may be a better option than Screenshot I recommended earlier. (Grab is located in the Utilities Folder which is in the Applications Folder.) Of course, for quality you will probably want to use ...

Re: Mellel Tutorial for beginners (for version 2.7)
In regard to problems with the images in my Tutorial, I thought they had been fixed, but I just downloaded the current version at the Redlers' site, and found that some of the problems still remain. However, until the problems get fixed, you can download the Mellel version of the Tutorial from my pe...

As I understand it, the current Mellel Tutorial text downloadable from the Redlers' site is my corrected version with all images visible.

Image in wrapped text, with caption in proper place.
From time to time it has been asked whether there is any way to make Mellel 2.7 accept a caption under or over an image, particularly a floating image, which is in a text and thus has the text wrapped around it. The usual answer is no; but there is a workaround which does work, though it is a tiny b...

Re: Feature request : finest tables positionning possibilities
It can be done, though not automatically. The details are in my Tutorial. To center a table: in the line above the table, 1. Choose the "centre" tab, press the tab button and type | (a straight up and down mark) 2. Move the table so its center aligns with the | mark you made in the line ab...

Re: creating new style sets
It should provided you have closed the document before you made the styleset changes -- styleset changes do not apply to documents already open, only when they have been closed and then reopened. But note also that if you change from one styleset to another after opening a document, you will have to...
