It's just possible that the chapter on tables in my Tutorial might help here. Major changes with handling tables were made in Mellel 2.7, and I tried to deal with them all.

Re: creating new style sets
This is not a problem I have been having. One possibility: have you checked Preserve Document Styles or Update Document Styles in the Mellel Preferences' Open & Save section? This might be the key to your problem.

Re: Mellel Tutorial for beginners (for version 2.7)
You are quite right. For some reason a large number of images did not come through in the Mellel version of the Tutorial. I am currently investigating the problem and will replace the current defective file with a proper one shortly.

Re: Mellel 2.7 is out
The Beginners Tutorial for 2.7 is also out in both Mellel and PDF. The blurb at the Redlers' site still says 2.6 and bears the date of 2.6, but the actual Tutorial text is in fact for 2.7 and has a September 2009 date, so you can download it without fear, what you actually download is the new 2.7 ve...

Re: Is it possible to search for text in a certain style?
If your paragraph style has a specific character style associated with it, you can search for that character style.

from_clipboard.jpg I am puzzled where your prev#1, prev#2 and prev#3 come from. I have tried to reproduce your problem, without success. Above is my TOC page paragraph setup. And here is the autotitle setup which resulted (I chose TOC from the paragraph menu): Autotitle TOC setup.jpg Don Broadribb

Re: Unwanted diamonds...
I have become convinced that somehow my style sets have become corrupted. The problems I describe seem not to occur when I use Mellel's default style set. However the perspective of having to recreate my style sets from scratch is not too enticing... This is probably not as difficult as it might se...

Re: Unwanted diamonds...
Sorry to have confused you with my explanations. I think I sort of assumed some facts about Mellel and its use of the diamond symbol, which I find are hardly mentioned in the official Mellel Guide, nor in my Beginners Tutorial. The little diamond symbol is used by Mellel to indicate that the text or...

Re: Unwanted diamonds...
I have tried out your text and I think I have found where the problem lies. In Mellel when in the preferences either Preserve document styles or update document styles is ticked, this feature applies only to documents open subsequently and never to the document which is open on your screen at the mo...

Re: Unwanted diamonds...
It might be worth your while to try the other choice, "Preserve document styles" and see what happens. But try it on a duplicate of a document, just in case... If you could send me a few pages of the document in question (two or three pages), I might be able to diagnose the problem and its...

Re: Unwanted diamonds...
preserve_update_styles.jpg A couple of basic questions: In Mellel's preferences, have you ticked the Update or Preserve styles option? This particular problem is something I have never encountered, which makes me feel that something in your procedure has gone wrong, though it is not clear to me jus...

Do you mean the Tutorial or the Guide? I have no responsibility for the Guide, but I am the author of the Tutorial. If you tell me in which ways you feel it could be improved, I will be very happy to rewrite it in consultation with you.eeptman wrote:.

Re: Margins in title flows
I find it very difficult to understand just what you mean in your description of your problem. Could you send me a sample text which shows the problem? (It does not have to be a real life text, just anything where you have a page set up as you describe and any text which fills a number of lines, and...

Re: Margins in title flows
It sounds like you are trying to set the margins via the auto-title setup, which does not have enough space in its display to set margins correctly. Margins should be set using Mellel's Paragraph Menu. In a normal Mellel window create a paragraph style titled TOC, with the margins set as you want th...

Re: Simple feature request: Auto-hide palettes
I don't know about auto-hiding. As far as the Dock goes, it's more annoying than helpful, to me. However, since clicking on the palettes icon at the right end of the toolbar acts as an on/off switch to show/hide the palettes, I would have thought that is an adequate solution for your problem.
