Couple of Conversion Tricks (Word docs to Mellel docs)
Hi All, Perhaps many know of these, but I thought I'd share them in case some didn't. One of the more time-consuming aspects of switching to Mellel is re-formatting (assuming one wants to use Mellel's powerful styles features) old Word (or other WP) documents. I have discovered that several things d...

Re: Will someone tell me it's going to be OK?
I've been following with bemusement the worried postings here for the past few months. It seems to me that Mellel users (and Nisus users as well, but in a different way) are stuck in a pattern that requires constant affirmation of their decision to use Mellel (or Nisus). This leads, I think, to the...

Re: Size of Redlex
I saw this posting by Ori on another thread, a posting that should assuage many, so I copy it here, as it answers the question: soliphint wrote: I note the latest Macworld, in it short blurb about other word processors, mentions Mariner Write and Nisus Pro, but doesn't mention Mellel. Maybe they kno...

Re: Size of Redlex
This is good news! I'm glad to read that they're trying to hire another programmer.

Re: Size of Redlex
But Mellel is, and will always remain, an application for the happy few, at least in the Western World. For the many, there are a host of other applications, which are more sexy and more easy to use than Mellel. In my opinion, it would be better if the Redlers tried to get some more money out of th...

Size of Redlex
I realize this may be an inappropriate question for this forum, but I wanted to ask--how large is Redlex, in comparison with the WP divisions of its competitors (say, Nisus, Microsoft, or Apple (Pages))? Is it just Eyal and Ori (or Ori alone, Eyal having been quiet for so long)? Is there any reason ...

Re: Wishlist 2008
If these recommendations will have some influence, I should say that I really would like better importing and exporting to Word, and Quicklook integration, whenever possible. I also would like the ability to create an index.

Very simple solution
Hello Don and Patrick, There was a very simple solution, which I should have tried before writing in and wasting y'all's time: just leave the assignment of the function keys open, not assigned to any particular command and Mellel will take control of the function keys when it is up. Duh. No need for...

No major GUI change needed
I have to concur with the majority here that Mellel's GUI is much better, more organized and streamlined than the other word-processors I've used, so no major GUI changes are needed (and hopefully are not being implemented in the long-awaited update). There are so many minor changes, fixes, that are...

This has actually been discussed quite extensively on the forums in the past. If you do not wish to use styles to mark up your document, then there is no issue using Cmd+[B,I,U]. However, if you want to use styles, then your ad hoc changes will be lost when a style is applied. This is not a bug, bu...

Style Variations
There doesn't seem to be any way to override the function keys to reassign them to the style variations that Mellel originally assigned to the function keys, is there, since they're not a menu-listed item? I've been concerned that using Cmd+B or I or U will be erased as mentioned by Don Broadribb in...

Back to the topic
I just want to say that, after several weeks of using Mellel (and the Mac) and going back and forth comparing it with with Word and the PC, I just have to declare my gratefulness to the Redlers for a well-conceived program. I actually believe that Mellel is a bonus to moving to the Mac. What I love ...

Adding styles to imported Word document
Is there any way to quickly add to the various sections of an imported Word document, into Mellel's styles format? Otherwise, I have to manually change each area of text by highlighting and clicking on the appropriate style. With my long document, that will take some time. Any advice would be apprec...

Horizontal position on page
Is there any way to view at what point the cursor is in the horizontal plane of the text? Sometimes I want to make sure that two lines are in alignment without having to worry about columns when using tabs would be awkward. The spacing data is not shown in any information panel I've looked at. Thank...
