Re: A call for tables
Unless I missed it, there is an important additional need: export of tables to Word should preserve the coloring of cells. I just tested this again a moment ago and the export to rtf does not preserve said coloring, although export to pdf does. This is a pure-and-simple bug. A serious one that ofte...

Old Mellel
I have an old file from 2008, which doesn't open. I imagine that I need to download an old version of Mellel top open it? If so, where do I find Mellel 3.?

Re: auto titles numbering
Lucia, the problem "must be" in your definition of the auto titles. You apparently have an auto title for something I would call "Unnumbered Heading (UH)". If you open the palette for Aut-Title, it should appear in the list. Click that auto-title and then click the pencil to edit...

Re: Mellel 4.0.1 is here
I was unable to install the update. It downloaded ok, but then during attempted installation Mellel hung up and I had to use Force Quit. This occurred even after restarting the computer. I use Sierra, OS 10.12.6. I work behind a pretty tough corporate firewall with pretty tough protective software, ...

Text box default
Is it possible to set the default features of a textbook for a given document? For example, I might like the format to be font 10 rather than 12, left flush rather than a normal indent, and single space rather than 1.15 (my normal). I might even want the font to be colored or italic. In the absence ...

Re: Export options on IPAD
My understanding was that Mellel (including Mellel 4) cannot export to .docx directly and that some features of the track-changes function, when working with Word users, depend on going through .rtf. If so, perhaps Avner's question about Mellel for the iPad is really whether we most want the export ...

Re: Future with Dropbox
What I am referring to is using Mellel on the iPad to access and edit files that were created on a regular Mac and then saved in Dropbox. Or vice versa. The synchronization between OS X and iOS works fine if the sharing mechanism is iCloud Drive, but--unless I have not cracked the code--not with Dro...

Future with Dropbox
Mellel 4 works via iCloud Drive with Mellel for the iPad. I just tested that and synchronization had occurred. Everything seems fine.
Is it still the case that Mellel does not work with Dropbox? Are they realistic plans to make it do so?

Re: Export to word .doc format does not handle in-line image
In Mellel, change the image to be not just in-line but also wrapped. I think it will then export ok. At least it did so for me just now, experimenting with some Mathtype equations. Alternatively, one can make adjustments in Word--selecitng the equation using Control and then using Wrap (nto a very i...

Re: Exports of Mellel 4.0 to Word. Solutions, Expensive and
Even with Mellel 3, after exporting to rtf or .doc, one can open in Word and save-as to .docx. Also, if one exports to pdf and converts to Word with Acrobat, the result is a .docx.

Re: Toward a Sneaky Way To Export Better to Word
Today I converted a 100 page complex Mellel document to Word .docx using export to pdf, open in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, and export to Word. The conversion is essentially perfect. The conversion —Handled front-matter pagination as intended (i, ii, iii,...), as in the Mellel manuscript but not as in the...

Perhaps for 4.1? Number of structural levels
Some authors have as many as four levels in main text and appendices. As I count, this would require 13 structural levels in Mellel auto-titles: 1 for unnumbered headings such as used for Summary, Preface, Acknowledgment, and Reference pages, and 4 each for Summary, main text, and appendix "par...
