That's a known issue with Snow Leopard, we believe it is due to some bug in the operating system and we are waiting Apple's response regarding this.

I'm afraid there is a know issue with Mellel 2.6.1 under Snow Leopard. We recommend not using it with Snow Leopard until we issue a fix in the next few days.

The crash looks like a corrupt font cache. Try using OnyX or a similar utility (I'm not sure about snow leopard compatibility though) to clear that.

To be honest, I think the real bug here is the way svn does its thing. Other version control systems (for example, Perforce) work just fine without putting hidden folders all over the place and I'm pretty sure that the svn way causes trouble beyond issues with Mellel. I'm afraid this may be a problem with iDisk. AFAIK iDisk doesn't support package documents like the ones Mellel uses and this can cause problems like deleting the contents of your files.
