I discovered that in footnote style, spellchecking apparently doesn't take into account the language setting. For example, spellchecking will highlight all the text in latin in my footnotes, even when its language property has been changed to Latin.

spellchecking bug with style variation
Hi, I think I encountered a bug in the spellchecking feature: Say the language in the "Text" style, base is: French Say the language in the "Text" style, variation C (same as base but italicized) is: latin When I insert an expression in latin inside a phrase in French, the last w...

Tabs narrower in Outline
Hi there, After the transition from Mellel3 to Mellel4, I've noticed that the display of auto-titles in the Outline pane has changed. I'm not sure of exactly what has been changed, but the result is that when many sub-levels are in use, the incrementing tab quickly makes perusing through the outline...

Re: Mellel 4 slow
Thanks Stefan for this feedback. I, too, experienced the same slowness with an external display. But I'm not convinced that it has to do with Mac OS or hardware limitations: 1. I experienced the same slowness once in a while when I was working with only one display (the MB Pro display) in Mellel 3 ;...

Re: Mellel 4 slow
I've noticed something the other day which would point to a bug in Mellel. I was using Mellel 3 but it could be the same problem in Mellel 4, only more prominent: - Mellel is lagging - in full screen mode, the palette is on the right side of the text - the palette is a frame with a small shadow arou...

Re: From Sente to Bookends
Thanks Joseph, you're right, the website is back. But yesterday, the home page was blank with a big : "We're closed".
However, their cloud service for syncing has been offline (at least for me) since yesterday. Not a good omen…

From Sente to Bookends
Hi everyone, I realized this evening that Sente bibliographic software went offline. I checked their website and it's now closed. I hoped that the manuscript I'm working on would be completed before they go out of business but, alas, it won't be the case. But this manuscript is only one of the many ...

Re: Mellel 4 slow
Thanks Stefan for your feedback. It would have to be not the font in itself (I assume Mac Os handles all unicode fonts in the same way) but the way Mellel 4 handles fonts, because the same file is very slow in Mellel 4 while it works fine with Mellel 3. My innermost fear is that Mellel follows the p...

Re: Mellel 4 slow
Thanks Jörn, your comment is very helpful. I've removed Mellel 4 for the moment, since I cannot spend too much time dealing with migration issues, but will remember this tip when time has come. But, basically, if I understand well, you're saying that with Mellel one has to choose between heavy docum...

Mellel 4 slow
Hi everyone, I've decided to give a try to Mellel 4 this afternoon. Unfortunately, with the manuscript I'm working on at the moment, Mellel 4 is very, very slow when typing some text. It happened once in a while that Mellel 3 would slow down but restarting the Mac would get things in order. This tim...

Re: Mellel 4.0 and other secrets...
Hi there, thanks for this new version of Mellel. I really enjoy every bit of this software, especially the way you solved the aporia between complexity of functions and simplicity of use, power and rationality. So I just went on to buy the upgrade to Mellel 4, happy to support the development of one...

Re: Orphans/widows in footnotes Revisited
May I revive this old post. I have a manuscript with hundreds of footnotes, many of them being lengthy. This creates (as expected) numerous orphans for which there seems to be no other way to deal with than denying any cross-page footnote. But this is even worse. Wouldn't there be any possibility to...

Re: Toward a Sneaky Way To Export Better to Word
Thanks a lot for this invaluable tip. I have a 500 pages manuscript with lots of cross-references, and was anxiously preparing to painful days of correction.
You made my day.
Thanks again.
Emmanuel
