Re: Mellel 4.0 and other secrets...

Maybe someone can clarify. Does the publicity imply that it will be cheaper to buy a new copy of Mellel NOW than to just update to Mellel 4.0 when it comes from my current copy? If you already have a licenced copy of Mellel, then you just pay for an Update (an upgrade) . So what they’re saying is, ...

Re: how to find bold text

Is there a simple way to find bold text using the find function? Okay, here’s a simple way to find bold text: 1) Open your Find dialogue: Command-F. This will open the Find dialogue at the bottom of your Mellel document. 2) Click on the small triangle on the left side of the Find field (next to the...

Re: Can't copy and paste into other applications. Is this no

You shouldn’t have any problems copying and pasting items in Mellel. I can copy and paste text within a Mellel doc, or into other applications using Command-C or Command-V. I can also drag text between documents or to the desktop (to create a clipping). I can also drag text to an app's icon in the D...

Re: Some humble suggestions

If it is ever decided to offer a unified inspector pane (like Pages and many other native apps) instead of the floating palette (current interface), could you please leave the option to have the floating palette? I'm comfortable using the floating palettes — and I prefer them. I have a large monito...

Re: Protect a document from changes

In Mellel 3.5.2b2 how do I protect a file from changes while it is opened? I want to lock a file when I am using it to teach a class then unlock it when I want to make changes later. Lock it in the Finder as the other poster just described. Or, save the file as a PDF file for use with the class, an...

Re: No palettes in full screen?

I have the same problem: palettes work in all views, except for full screen. Update: In full screen, palettes will open only with Reset Palettes. After that, the palettes stay open, and there is NO further control of palettes (menu or shortcut). Also, I have to use the keystroke: Command, Shift-* to...

Manu.
I want to second your sentiment.

I've used Mellel since 2003. It's my favorite word processor, and still a joy to use.

Count me in, too. It would be useful in many ways.

I also want to see an option to create a floating window. I'd use it for collecting information and, especially, for notes.

Re: Recurring spinning beach ball problems

Two posts above yours, there's a thread dealing with the same problem. It contains a temporary solution that might work for you, until the Redlers can come up with a real fix for the problem. I posted this in case you missed that thread.

Re: feature list and comparison needs updating

I’d also like to have the split screen feature. Seems like most other writing tools offer it so I’m surprised Mellel has
never implemented it.

Another useful feature I’d like to see is a floating window option. Using a floater makes it a snap to take notes while working or doing research online.

Re: Mellel 3.0 wish list

Three years ago I requested a split screen feature to facilitate editing in two locations simultaneously in a book-length document. I still find that a necessary feature. I believe I have seen others on this forum agree. I also once requested an ability to hyperlink to information on the internet v...

Re: Any way to automate autotitle creation?

In the mean time, I have renamed my autotitles Level 1, Level 2, etc. Then under my Mac's keyboard shortcuts, created my own shortcuts CMD + SHFT + OPT + 1, CMD + SHFT + OPT + 2, etc. Works wonders. I finally spent some time using System Prefs to set up some shortcuts, too. Had to rework a few thin...

Re: Any way to automate autotitle creation?

But, as you said, a simple expedient like auto-title shortcuts would make the difference for speed users. Let's hope the time it takes for the developers to eventually introduce this simple enhancement matches your writing pace rather than mine Never said I'm a fast writer. I also use Mellel for a ...

Re: Any way to automate autotitle creation?

Hello Francisco, Yes, I use both the menu bar and the Autotitle Palette. But I use many autotitles in nearly every Mellel document I create, and having to mouse around for every one of them is SO slow and monotonous. It would be a time saver to be able to quickly create needed autotitles without hav...

Any way to automate autotitle creation?

Autotitles allow us to quickly navigate Mellel documents, but setting up a lot of autotitles quickly becomes tedious. Is there a way to automate the process? Mellel is not scriptable, but could an applescript be set up using System Events to quickly get to the correct menu, then to the sub-menu item...
