Run-in titles

Hi, When writing synopsis for the movie, I usually use this kind of formatting: Ulysses and Minnie. Then Ulysses reaches Topolinia, and meets Minnie. This is even more common with technical documents: Open. This command lets you open an existing document. As seen in another thread, this can easily b...

I have not used the feature yet Use it! Even if you do not need it. It's fantastic (and going better)! I use it everyday. For example, when I add or change something in a document I am discussing with others, I can mark the new or changed text, so that they can immediately jump there. It is like a ...

I too use Mellel on a Pismo G3/400 with 512MB of RAM and Tiger 10.4.9 running on it. Frankly, I find Mellel rather snappy, when compared to other applications running on the same machine. I can write with it without feeling it is not following me. To be true, it's my preferred writing machine. I can...

Currently, I work this way. First, I create, print and share a draft with markers. Each subsequent revision does contain markers. Finally, when I'm ready to share the finished text, I remove - or convert to ordinary text - all markers, so printing with or without them actived doen't make difference....

Mh, probably I found a solution. In the auto-title definition box, I can define the paragraph style as "Use surrounding", and the character style as "Title". This way, the paragraph style remains the original Normal, while the title's appearence is the one of the Title character ...

I want to do this: This is the title. This, on the contrary, is just ordinary text. The bold part is an auto-title, while the other is not. I want the first part ("Title") to be automatically styled as bold. I don't want the second part ("Normal") is. When I select the first part...

This causes a specular problem: when setting the paragraph style of the auto-title flow to 'Use surrounding', the auto-title takes the same style as the following text.

Nicka, you are perfectly right. Auto-titles can be followed by ordinary text right now. I wonder why I missed this feature before. Maybe it's because when you transform some text into an auto-title, the whole paragraph takes the corresponding text style. It can be manually changed later, but this co...

Another way I would use them (and I need this everyday) is for run-in titles, i.e., those titles that are immediately followed by the child paragraph with no line break. Example:

This is the title. As said in the title of this paragraph, that was the title, while this one is the main text.

BTW, either you vote or not for the poll (that's just a game), please write the reason why you prefer one way or the other. Maybe I can learn something of how to use it in a different way.

I suggest you save your finished thesis in RTF format, and open it with Word or NeoOffice for indexing. I don't like the way they manage indexing (for a whole thesis, you will probably go insane), but they do it. Later, maybe you can go the opposite way, and re-open your work in Mellel, when indexin...

Saving the Print Markers status

Hi, I wonder what is the general consensus about saving the Print Markers status. I would prefer that this Print dialog option was saved each time you change its status. I think this is a general, not a momentary preference. If I want to print markers now, I would probably want to print them the nex...

Changing more Auto-title tags at the same time

Hi, I would like to be able to select more that one tag (by Cmd+click and/or dragging) in the Edit Auto-title dialog box, and change the format of more tags at the same time. I do this very often when programming new Auto-title formats, and applying the same changes to several tags one at a time see...

It must be noted that double-clicking is due the first time you apply a particular marker. The next time you must simply click on the hand icon, and the already selected marker will be applied with just one click.
