Changes to toolbar and window footer

Hi, I don't know the others, but, as they are now, I don't find the toolbar and window footer too comfortable. I miss some important information, while at the same time having too many unuseful elements populating the document window's margins. Here is how I would redesign the toolbar: Tabs Writing ...

Don, The best you can do is to export as RTF, which Word reads as a Word document, and which preserves most, though not all, of the formatting. The problem is not at all preserving character appearence, but the logical function of paragraphs. The original poster is not trying to have the same paragr...

Users can accept the limitations (they are not limitations for me, but for others they are) The beauty of text representation on screen and on paper is one of the main strength of Mellel. I wouldn't ovelook at it, since dealing with beauty has always been part of our job as writers. Philosophy apar...

I often work on several open documents in Mellel, and do this for days. While I would love to have an easier working life, where I could concentrate only on one of the things I like to do, as a matter of fact I must work in parallell on various different projects. So, an option of launching Mellel w...

WriteRoom is evil. Scrivener is cool! :-)

why would anyone format his document with ad-hoc styles (Cmd-B, Cmd-I) and then switch a paragraph or character style? For example, you might want to change from a paragraph style called, say, "Normal" to one called "Indented", because the paragraph's role in the work has change...

You are right. And since we are here, I would also add strikethrough.

Nicka, shouldn't full screen mode be used to avoid distractions while writing, getting rid of all elements apart for text? If you see everything, even two facing pages, what's the difference with the normal wysiwyg view?

Robert, I envy your situation (and you studying with Oxford!) My situations are worse than your. Here are the most common: 1) I write screenplays, and the format of choice for exchanging between, say, Final Draft and Mellel, is either RTF or Word. Since paragraph styles are not exported or imported ...

The problem is that you still have access to the classic Cmd-I, Cmd-U, and Cmd-B shortcuts (or palette equivalents). If you use them, and then change paragraph style, your formatting is lost. This is very dangerous, since will force you to carefully reformat everything word by word. What about if th...

I very much like the way full screen mode was implemented in Scrivener. There are two completely different environments: write in wysiwyg mode to watch at the finished page, or go to full screen to avoid any distraction from the user interface, the fonts and formatting. I wish something like this wi...

The release of Nisus' new beta is a good thing for us Mellel users. It lets us know how bad Mellel would have been working, if it was developed without quality insurance in mind. At the same time, I'm very sorry Nisus' developers are going the Microsoft way, when programming quality is concerned... ...

This is something that I sorely miss, too. Having to reapply partial style changes each time I change a paragraph style is something I don't catch. I cannot still get the suggested workarounds, since in the end I always end up having to reapply the partial styles by hand. If someone can explain as h...

Eyal,

Thank you very much. Very well done.
Is it just me, or the video tutorial dedicated to Auto-titles has no audio?
