Mellel 2.7 around the corner...
We'll soon start beta testing Mellel 2.7, and it seems like a good time to write a little bit about what will be there... The main new feature we've planned for 2.7 was flowing text around images. We thought this feature might turn out to be a big one, but it turned out to be huge... There are two p...

PakaPaka Studio: new application
We have a new application, called PakaPaka Studio. It's free, so go try it at http://www.connectnw.com/redlers/pakapaka/PakaPakaStudio.zip You can also read a bit about it here: http://www.mellel.com/pakapakastudio.html Tell us what you think, if you want and enjoy (just so you don't feel we worked ...

Re: Strange problem in Find Action
Your search string here was for <word boundary><white space(once or more)><white space(once or more)> which seems a bit wasteful. You can set it to search for two spaces (plainly enter the spaces as the find string) or create a group from a space and add the attributes of <at least two> or <one or m...

Re: query about strange icons and folders
I have noticed some strange things about Mellel-related things in my Applications folder ever since downloading version 2.6. This was admittedly a long time ago, but I just now thought to ask about it. This sounds like you've fallen prey to a problematic automatic update procedure. My suggestion is...

Indeed. This is also noted on our site, with reference to a PDF (if you like to read it this way).daiyi wrote:A nice review of Mellel but rather thin. User comments (if you haven't already) would certainly give a richer picture.

Re: Request: Auto-title palette indicates level of selected text
And this too. Mellel does seem a bit inconsistent and tattered at the seams.rpcameron wrote:As a wider request ... I would love to see an interface refresh and have Mellel embrace the true style of OS X, instead of its haphazard implementation of Apple's HIG. And, better consistency throughout.

Yes, this is something planned.johnny366 wrote:Could the Auto title palette be consistent with the Styles palettes? It would be helpful to select in an auto title and see its level highlighted in the palette.

Re: Hyperlinks
One of the reasons I am reluctant to do much writing in Mellel is the absence of an ability to make hyperlinks from the text to URLs or to documents/files on my hard drive. I can do this in Word and in Open Office and in Nisus Writer Pro, but at least I am unaware of any way to do this in Mellel. I...

Re: Anybody any idea where we're going?
However, my concern stands that Mellel is no longer having the same priority as before... I am still worried that Mellel has been put on the back-burner with a large enough 'crowd' to support the Redlers with little further development (let's face it - the competition is pretty much non-existing - ...

Re: Anybody any idea where we're going?
But …… does "flowing text around images" mean what it means, and only that, or does it also imply "flowing text around text" in its various manifestations (e.g. notes not only under, but also beside the text; continuing text blocks across pages etc.). Or is that, technically spe...

Re: Anybody any idea where we're going?
Don't hold your breath. The Mellel development is dead as far as I see it. I would be super surprised if we are ever going to see a version 2.7.... :( Which is really too bad as Mellel is a kickass program, that could easily be one of the very best programs ever to be made for the Mac - juuuuuuust ...

Oh, and talking about Newsletters: in the july 2007-edition I read: "Our Mystery Product -- We also plan to release in the near future a nice little application -- free for all. The application will is called PakaPaka Studio and, while we'll keep it shrouded in mystery for the time being, I ca...

Mellel 2.6.1
Hi to all,
Mellel 2.6.1 is out. It's a minor update, with mostly bug fixes, but noteworthy because some of the bugs are those who were discussed here at length during the past two weeks (the Bookends/Sente problem, for one).

Re: All Mellel files simultaneously reduced to Zero KB
Today I noticed that my iDisk was syncing ALL of my Mellel files. When I later went to open one I found it was empty (i.e., zero KB) and the file would not open. Recalling that I had seen iDisk syncing all of the Mellel files, I started checking other files and found that on each of my machines eve...
