Have you already checked the invisible characters? In the Mellel window, on the bottom left corner, there’s a small drop down menu labeled »Show«. If you click it and select »All invisible characters« you could see the »break« characters: http://www.martin-stadtmueller.de/mellel/pagebreak.png The im...

Actually, the OpenType feature you select in Mellel is "All Small Caps", which does exactly what it says Sure, it does what it says but I think that most users don’t like or have no use for All Small Caps. If I need small caps, search the manual for this therm and find a option in the Ope...

I haven’t seen any problem with Mellel 1.2.1 regarding the preferences so mine are where they should be (as are the auto-title setups, style-sets and so on). As the styles are saved with a document, you could open some Mellel file that includes one of the lost styles, open the “Edit style sets…” win...

1. For every foreign language create a Character Style Variation. I’m not sure, if I would like the language settings to be part of a character Variation as for most people (as read on this forum) the 8 variations are already skimpy. If I use all 8 variations for different font attributes, there ar...

I’ve downloaded and tried Pixen but I couldn’t find the Bi-directional spilt you’ve mentioned. Could you give a hint how to activate it?

Actually, I feel there are a few interface changes that could be made to Mellel. Such as, removing the brushed metal/textured interface/option completely. Also, when Aqua style is not really Aqua, but a window created to be brushed metal, but with the textured setting switched off. Why can't Mellel...

I second this request as well, but would like to enhance it. The spell-check is a must have, but I would also prefer a language-setting that incorporates both spelling and hyphenation (and typographers quotes). This would probably require taking a language setting into the Preferences pane: Sounds ...

To easily create a line in Mellel, you could enter a table with one row and one cell, select the table and adjust the borders so that only the bottom border shows a black line. Now you could adjust that table to a very low height (to do this, you need to adjust the font size and line spacing to 1pt ...

Don’t know what’s the benefit of a vertical split, but I like to see a diagonal one. No other software I know has this, so Mellel would be the market leader! O.k., seriously, a horizontal split would be great, especially with the planned cross-references feature. Then you could see the reference and...

Re: what about "set to automatically fade" pref?

if you needed to search for the next word, you could type Command-G, […] if you just wanted to call the Find and replace window to the foreground, you could type Command-F again. That’s right, of course but there may be a reason, why I have opened the find window (maybe because I like to search for...

I think it doesn’t make sense to match those shortcuts. Numbe one reason: it doesn’t work. • You couldn’t toggle style variations with CMD+B and so on. One example: You have some text and press cmd+b, you apply your 2nd variation and the text would be displayed in bold. Great. Now you press cmd+i. A...

On notebooks this is a multiple-key shortcut (Cmd+fn+F1). You could set OS X to behave differently. Open System Preferences, select Keyboard & Mouse, then selecth the first tab “Keyboard” and check the first option (use F keys to control software features). Now the F-keys work the same as on a ...

Re: Feature request: Learning soft hyphen

Do you mean that once, twice, thrice you enter a soft hyphen Mellel will wise up and learn the pattern? I think he doesn’t have meant that. As I understand it, the “learning soft hyphen” is a new hyphen added to the current one. Insert › Special Characters › Hyphen & Dash › Learning Soft Hyphen...
