Re: what about "set to automatically fade" pref?
I suggest that the "find and replace" box could be set to automatically fade when you move the mouse out of it. I think of this as an option available to the user in the preferences: you could have the traditional find & replace, or the automatically fading find & replace. Ideally...

I disagree on two grounds 1) With little overhead (a button to toggle the function on/off) the outline pane can be switched into a search pane à-la-Preview. That’s only true if you have the outline pane already opened. One important point (at least as I‘ve read the comments above) of this thread is...

Re: request: style names in text for "replace styles&qu
Something equivalent to Word's "style area" would make using Replace Styles much easier. (In Word, go to Prefs and set "style area width" to nonzero, at least in v. X). It shows the style name in the margin next to each paragraph. I don’t think that somethin like Word’s style ar...

Re: Feature request: Learning soft hyphen
It would be (IMHO) better to invest some time (and I think of more than just one person) to improve the hypenation dictionaries so that all users could benefit from that work and you don’t have to add hyphenation rules when you write. You’re right, but will that work? I guess that creating or updat...

You could set the variables on a per document basis. If you create a new document, the variables set in the preferences will be published to the new document (as you’ve already seen). If you like to change the variable in a existing document, you could choose File › Document Info… from the menu bar ...

Thanks for that information (I haven’t read the thread before). One never could stop to learn. So in this case it’s a design flaw of AGPP but in InDesign you could even try to solve it by inserting the Glyphs by hand (not a nice job). In Mellel you couldn’t even do that do its lag of supporting glyp...

The problem is strictly related to Garamond Premier Pro, doesn't affect Minion Pro and doesn't depend from keyboard layout. It’s not a problem of Garamond Premier Pro but a problem with Mellel. Mellel’s OpenType support doesn’t support all and every OpenType feature, as the mentioned Glyph variants...

Re: Indexing
Real-time up-dating of an index will be very processor time-consuming. It would be sufficient to delete an old index and create the new index at the cursor location again. I think this isn’t a problem nowadays and therefore I really would like to see real-time updating in Mellel for everything (ind...

For Mellel's quick find function, I'd prefer an Apple Preview-like find to a Firefox-like find. The main difference is that in Preview you get a scrollable list of hits in their order in the document, whereas in Firefox you have to keep pressing Apple-G to jump from one hit to the next. I’m not aga...

That’s what I wrote about.zoul wrote:Are we talking about the same search bar? I am talking about this thing, see the search at the bottom of the window. I think this could look good in Mellel.

I've never changed the background color, but is there a reason why the outline panel shouldn't just match the background color of the main window? Or do you want a separate setting for the outline area's color? The color of the outline panel doesn’t hurt me but I think it would make sense to either...

Re: Feature request: Learning soft hyphen
Quite frequently I find myself adding new hyphenation points to the dictionary, which currently requires opening the preferences, pressing the Add button and entering the whole hyphenation pattern. I would like to have a better way to add new hyphenation points to the dictionary, a “learning soft h...

The shown example works without a problem on my machine but you may be right by guessing that the problem is caused by your paragraph style. I may be wrong but the word “testing” on your screenshot looks like it is aligned on the second tabulator which you could see on your ruler. You could either t...
