The asterisks on either end are typed. The rest you can figure out by experimenting. It should only take a minute or two.Declan wrote:Could kjmatthews, or anyone else, tell me what options on the "insert element" dropdown bring about that fine collection of hieroglyphics.

Re: Find Replace query
I do something similar with highlights I export from Skim. First, highlight all the text and change it to Main Body Text, or whatever you want it to be. You can't change paragraph styles with Find/Replace. Then, try this query (ignore the text that appears to be hidden by the image — my screen captu...

Re: "Document Rendering" window
This happened to me once before. I believe this is the authorized solution.shades wrote:Well, I fiddled with it, but didn't have time to go through every troubleshooting step.
So I downloaded the program again.

Re: .5" Header appears within the 1" Page Margin Parameter
In order to get the desired layout I have to insert a page style break after the last word on the first page of every new chapter and then set the following page to the correct setting. It's doable but seems to be unnecessary. I would rather not have to place a page style break at the end of a page...

Re: Reference dialogue--open automatically?
Why not use a program like TextExpander to type a keyboard shortcut that inserts {ProseReferenceInformation@} into the document and positions the cursor after the @. Then you can convert the curly braces into reference objects (Edit > Bibliography > Convert Text to Citations) before you scan the doc...

Re: iPad Version
However, if you wish you have Mellel documents more accessible through DEVONthink, then that is not something that the Mellel developers need to focus upon, but rather DEVON's people. I fully support the creation and elucidation of Mellel's valid XML format, but a stop-gap measure for easier access...

Re: iPad Version
I'm inclined to agree with rpcameron. I'd also hate for the Redlers to take any time away from their (at times slow) desktop development cycle. As much as I would love to have an iPad and a corresponding version of Mellel, I'm not sure the ethos of Mellel is entirely compatible with that of the iPad...

Re: Feature request: Page style break after this page
I'm not quite sure how one would define a "page break after this page"; what defines "this page"? I don't know what you mean. I mean "page" in the most pedestrian sense possible. Mellel understands what a page is already: we have page styles, page breaks, page numbers,...

Feature request: Page style break after this page
I think this is a fairly self-explanatory feature request. There are numerous situations where I would like to modify page style wherever the "natural" page break occurs in the text flow. This is particularly useful at the beginning of chapters, where page enumeration style and header/foot...

Re: Feature request: hyperlinks to external files
@harryhoffner, I think you've misunderstood rpcameron's point. As a user who is "concerned only with the availability of a desired feature and its proper functioning," it is most assuredly in your best interest to weigh in as specifically as possible regarding what that desired feature and...

Re: Page numbering question
Your technique for doing this is correct, I think. That's unfortunate! rpcameron had given me hope :) This seems like an awfully inflexible method. I also don't understand why suppressing the header/footer on the first page also eliminates the margins the header/footer normally occupies. This seems...

Re: Page numbering question
I'm not sure what you mean. How do I set the first page to have a different header/footer without assigning it a different page style?

Page numbering question
I am editing my CV under some time pressure, and can't seem to recall how to suppress the text of my header and footer on my first page without losing the .5" margins they provide above and below the text of the page body. The only way I can think of is to insert a page style break at the botto...

Re: Bibliography pane
This would be the domain of Bookends, though, not Mellel. Not quite, if I understand ppnkg correctly: He would like to have "Author (year)" in the pane, without any additional information such as pagenumber etc. This would lead to fewer quotes in the pane and thereby make it more usefull....
