I found the small yeh, I think, in the character palette. But I am still not able to find the combined diacritics (shadda + fatha or kasra) and other weird letter combinations that my professor writes on the board. Michael In System Preferences/International/Input Menu, make sure you have keyboard ...

Re: unicode tables, etc.
I am new to Mellel and a beginner student of Arabic. I have been struggling with this same problem, among others, with the fatha and kasra being mixed up in the shadda. Michael, my knowledge of Arabic is very, very limited, but I'll tell you how I solve the problem in Hebrew and you can check if Ar...

<With the Alignment & Spacing palette set exactly what height you want for your rows. Note that if you prefer extreme exactness, you can specify the height in points and decimals of points. Don, this is a good workaround, but it does have some drawbacks: -- first, I'd like to be able to set row hei...

If you want to make a booklet I would recommend to make your styles with bigger fonts and use CocoaBooklet to create the booklet you want. I do things even easier: I prepare my booklet on full-sized pages (with bigger fonts), make a pdf version and send it to the print shop to be printed in booklet...

Place your cursor inside the line somewhere and press command+right arrow, and see where Mellel moves your cursor. Essentially, Mellel interprets end of line as the position to the right of the last character. This seems logical to me. If you want the cursor to be to the right of the blank space in...

Slightly off topic -- Prices for OpenType Hebrew Fonts
I promised I'd notify the group if Studio Rosenberg [Masterfont in Israel] had a special on their Opentype Hebrew fonts that support NIKUD. Well, they do have a sale in place till 1 January, but I only found out about it today. The prices start at $300 for 33 "weights." They also throw in a disk-on-...

I think you misunderstood my problem: I think the placement of the cursor at the end of the justified sentence is wrong. It should be visually placed after the space, where it logically belongs. Sorry, Michael, I disagree. There's no right or wrong here. There's a choice. Since trailing blanks have...

Confusing -- yes. Bug -- no. Let's call it a " feature." When you use [left and right] justified text or centered text, the system, correctly, does not include trailing blanks when calculating text position. >> you can test this by centering a short phrase. Add as many trailing blanks as you like, t...

I'm sorry to be so cagy about this, but my paper hasn't been submitted for publication and I'm not sending any of my PhD research to anyone until it has been acccepted. Paul, I understand your reluctance. Try this: cut just the chapter in which the problem occurs out of the entire thesis. Is the pr...

then for those looking to replicate the issue, the keystroke is Cmd+Z, not Ctrl+Z. I've tried Cmd+Z and simple Edit/Undo; I've tried with both balanced and unbalanced columns, but no joy. This is going to turn out to be some complex combination of factors. I suggest that 'pds1602' send a copy of th...

I also can't reproduce the problem. I had a problem some time ago with sections that turned out to be a "legacy." My document was based on an old document that was based on an older one that was based .... Somewhere along the line a faulty parameter had crept in. The solution was to start with a tot...
