Re: Hebrew words reversed in Word export
Have you tried inserting a Unicode RLE control character before the Hebrew text, and followed by a LRE marker after? That way the system, whatever it happens to be, will know that the Hebrew text is to be RTL.

Re: Typographic quotes and caps lock bug
I understand this is a bug. However, I personally have never found a great implementation, and therefore never use the feature. (One of the first things I disable in every WP I use is so–called smart quotes.)

Re: Typographic quotes and caps lock bug
If you are using your own custom keyboard, how difficult would it be for you to add “ and ” to the keymap? I'm not trying to be difficult, but “smart” quotes are not really easily to implement, especially because of the edge cases. Do you have two free keys in your keymap (perhaps keys that are modi...

Re: Mellel to Pages (doc!) doesn't work anymore
Mellel doesn't technically export as DOC format. What it does is export to RTF, then sticks a DOC extension on it. With Word, this isn't a problem because RTF and DOC(X) formats have feature parity. Other programs? They see the DOC extension and expect a binary Word file, and it isn't there ... I re...

Re: Live Bib, chapters, and my Dissertation
If you're writing in segments, perhaps your best option is something like Scrivener and RTF rather than Mellel ...

Re: Mellel and Pages
RTF will be your best bet. Word support is OS dependent, and different OS X versions support different features. However, Mellel's RTF support is not OS dependent, so that's always your best option.

Re: Reposition footnotes from bottom of pages to end of docu
I noticed that you have to make the shift by going to the Insert menu and then changing the note attributes. It seems like it would be possible to make the change in Style Sets, but those note preferences seem to operate independently--or at least not to effect the change from, say, bottom of page ...

Re: Keyboard shortcuts for changing case?
There's a service that's been mentioned several times in the past on this forum: DevonTechnologies' WordService. This is a service you install, and then becomes available to all applications. In the System Preferences, you can even bind its actions to whichever keyboard shortcuts you like.

Re: Mellel backup documents -Mavericks
For Patrick I could not find an option for LIBRARY there. While in the Finder, if you click/select the “Go” menu item, then menu appears with a list of common folders (and their shortcut keys); Library is not in that list. However, if you hold down the “Option” key on your keyboard while that menu ...

Also, in the Finder, Option-clicking on the Go menu will show an option for Library.

Re: Replacement text with subscript
Some fonts include scientific superiors/inferiors. So you select the text, and then apply that OpenType style to them. However, I don't recall Mellel's OpenType features menu offering them. The Character palette includes the following features in the Opentype option: Superscript/superior Subscript/...

Re: bookmarks on PDF
Are you referring to links within the document itself, or have a Table of Contents set from the Auto-Titles? The former, yes; the latter, no.
Re: OTF fonts
That's not quite true. You need a font with the proper OpenType tables. OTF fonts are OpenType fonts that include either TrueType or Type1 outlines. TTF fonts are always TrueType outline format. However, either type of font may include OpenType tables. Open either the Character Viewer or Font Book a...

Re: Mellel 3.3.3 is Here
Not sure why but the app store version is 3.3.4 and the KAGI version which I have is 3.3.3 - says I am up to date and no new version is available. I did contact Support and was told there was a bug in 3.3.3. What happens is the RTF fails to finish writing and freezes at about 15 % I am sure i...
