Re: set background to fill whole line
One further solution to this problem: Create a paragraph style with a center tab set 1/2 way between the left- and right-hand margins, and a right tab set just before the right margin*. Create an auto-title using that paragraph style and define it as "(Tab)(Title)(Tab)." *for some reason s...

Re: Bibliography pane
This would be the domain of Bookends, though, not Mellel.ppnkg wrote:You're probably right - this is an unnecessary duplication.
Speaking of citation behaviour - I wonder if we could have an 'Author (date)' option? (hope I'm not missing something here...)

Feature request: set paragraph background color
Based on a discussion of how to accomplish this through various "hacks" at http://forum.redlers.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2210. I thought this was the more appropriate forum for a discussion of the advantages/disadvantages of such a feature. I will merely repeat that it seems unusual to ...

Re: set background to fill whole line
Actually, I would like to revise my opinion of these two solutions. They are ingenious stopgap measures, and I am very grateful for the suggestions, but they do create their own problems (like not respecting paragraph spacing and orphan/widow control). But is there any reason why Mellel allows you t...

Re: set background to fill whole line
Both of them great solutions to the problem. Thank you! Edit: Is there a way to "pad" a section somehow? I'd like the gray background to extend a small amount further above and below the text. I can get it to extend above by setting the paragraph spacing "above" in the style, but...

set background to fill whole line
Is it possible to do this in Mellel —i.e., get the gray background to extend the whole length of the line — without adding tabs or spaces to either side of the text, or faking a line break using full justification (which would also space the text out)? http://kylejamesmatthews.com/images/examples/te...

Bibliography pane
I find some of the ways the Bibliography pane works with certain Bookends features to be a little strange. Specifically, Mellel lists citations prefaced with some conditional markers or with user input as different from the same citations without the extra data. For example, the citations: {Matthews...

I heartily agree with the call for improved spell checking, particularly for multi-lingual documents.

Re: Header collapses when edited
Still, if the height of the header or footer is explicitly set by the user, it seems to me that Mellel should respect that height.donb wrote:The elasticity of the depth of the headers and footers allows for so many valuable things that I would hate to lose it.

Re: Header collapses when edited
I reported this to the developers and they told me that it was not a bug but a poorly implemented feature. I think they're planning to change it for the next bugfix update.

Re: Editing a citation, after doc is scanned
But the reason that kjmatthews wanted to do this will soon be moot, since Bookends will handle consecutive citations in the MLA format correctly in the next update. Well, almost moot. Bookends will never be able to format MLA citations 100% correctly. If mention is made of the author in the prose i...

That's quite true, I hadn't realized I neglected to post that part. Margins are 1" on all sides except the left, which is 1.5".Eyal Redler wrote:I don't see any mention to the margins in the "spec" you've posted here.

Re: Dissertation page numbering
This actually can be done and it's quite easy: Every chapter is a page range (so chapters are are separated with page style breaks). The page range should be configured like this: First, configure the header and footer: 1. Header - page number at the top right 2. Footer - page number in the middle ...
