F-Key Problems (Style Variations)
When applying Character Style Variations using the F-keys, the first 3 work fine (F1, F2, F3), but F4, F5, and F6 do nothing, while F7 and F8 work normally again. When I apply the Variations via the Character Style panel (A, B, C, D, etc.) they all work as expected. Where can I look to see what has ...

Re: References: appearance of page ranges
Paul, just curious... Is that a personal preference, or is it a common practice where you live and work. I have not seen page ranges referenced in that manner before. My experience in mainly in the US, Mexico, and Chile.

Re: Insert minus sign?
My keyboard has the number pad on the right, which includes the plus (+) and minus (-) keys. Are these keys typographically incorrect?

Re: Creating an index
The instructions read: "Open your Auto-numbering palette and press the Edit numbering Flows button. The Edit numbering flows sheet will drop down." I think you need to change "numbering" for "title," so that it would read: Open your Auto-Title palette and press the Edit ...

Re: Mellel won't open mellel docs in Leopard
I have Word for Mac (MS Office 2004) and do not have the problems you describe. My Word docs do not contain Endnote citations - that may be the difference. I have two troubleshooting suggestions that I did not see mentioned in this thread: 1. Have you tried first exporting from Word to RTF, and then...

Re: Double-page view
Mellel provides vertical double-page view. (Normally, a double-page view is horizontal, with the pages side-by-side. A vertical double-page view is when one page is under the other.) Depending on the size and resolution of you monitor, set the magnification to 50% and you'll have a vertical double-p...

Re: Should I use Mellel?
If you require automatic cross-references, keep your eye on Mellel in the next couple of months. Cross-references have been promised for version 2.5, which is now in Beta testing. As always, do not make a decision based on promised features, but on actual features.

Re: Should I use Mellel?
It sounds like your document, although huge, is a fairly straightforward text document, with a few charts and, of course, tons of footnote and references. If this is an accurate description, your thesis is exactly what Mellel excels at doing well. As for compatibility with MS Word, the only problem ...

Re: Cannot attach to email
In regards to the PDF issue: Which PDF viewer are you using? Is the problem with OS X's Preview, or are you using Adobe's Reader or some other application. Also, which platform (OS X, Windows (XP/Vista/2000), Linux, &c.) are you using or having issues viewing on? OS X's Preview (on my end) and ...

Re: Cannot attach to email
FYI: I ran into another problem with Mellel documents and Mail. With a file named FormulariosConsejería.mellel.pdf I could not open the attachment. I tried e-mailing the files several times and in several ways (from the Print - PDF - Mail PDF dialogue, from the finder, etc.) I could not open the att...

Re: List numbering
Alas! None of these tutorials addresses my need for legal numbering (aka: hierarchical numbering, or interleaved numbering). But I did find it built in to Mellel already! I just had not looked in the right place. Mellel ships with a Legal Auto-Title setup. They key was finding out how to use the &qu...

Re: List numbering
Petrus, I have always considered "lists" to be automatic paragraph numbering. Am I missing something?
I tried Auto-Titles at the beginning of each paragraph, but could not figure out how to get them to do hierarchical / legal numbering. Can you explain the method.
Thanks again!

List numbering
I am editing the Book of Church Order for the denomination, and I 'd much rather do this in Mellel. (It's presently in MS Word.) But there is one problem I'm encountering. The denomination requires each paragraph to be hierarchically numbered . For example: Chapter 1 1-1 This is the first paragraph....
