Re: Option to display only page numbers in textual citations
Kyle asked me by PM for further help and for public benefit I post my reply here in this thread: At first open the Formats Manager. You can find it in Bookends' menu bar under Biblio: Menu item Biblio.png In the Formats Manager choose a format, in your case it would be either "MLA" or &quo...

Re: Option to display only page numbers in textual citations
Since Bookends is not yet smart enough to eliminate the author's name and display only page numbers when consecutively citing the same source in (for example) MLA format Bookends is smart enough to do so. Under Biblio/Formats Manager/[your format]/Citation Options you can find under custom citation...

Re: Request: Prevent extra spaces
I agree that an option to prevent typing more than one space in a row would come handy ( OpenOffice has it too). But you are asking about two different things: One is to prevent consecutive spaces caused by mistyping and the other is to remove consecutive spaces caused by copying and pasting chunks ...

Re: keystroke to get back to Base?
That's weird, because it is not working like that on my machine (Leopard 10.5.6). Is there a preference setting I have not activated?

Re: keystroke to get back to Base?
CMD+B still does not equal F2 (assumed that F2 is set as the shortcut for the variant bold). Like before the F key shortcuts activate the variants as set in the style, and CMD+B etc. activate the ad-hoc formattings. The major improvement to earlier versions of Mellel is that the ad-hoc formattings w...

Re: New Icon in Finder mode …
I agree to petrus, it's good that the II is gone.
And 'clumsy' – the modified Mellel icon has a black outline, if that's what you mean. Probably because with the outline the grey icon can be distinguished easier from the grey doc.

Klick on the toolbar item for the zoom factor. The unfolding list offers several view options in its bottom part.

Re: Quicklook and Mellel
Also a lot of programs, first of all storage programs, use the Quicklook technology so now you can read and copy from Mellel files from within these applications without having to open Mellel. Very helpful feature.

Re: Mellel 2.6
Sorry for causing you any downloading confusion just because I wanted to be the first to spread the good news. I had downloaded from one of the links provided in the beta mail (if I remember correct it was the first server) thus I didn't know about the link on the site. When 2.7 is out I will keep m...

Re: 2.6 beta
Mellel is known for being rock solid. If a beta becomes public which might contain a serious bug this reputation could get spoiled at least a bit because some people are not aware of the difference between a beta and a final release. And complaining people are always the loudest … But more importan...

Re: How to change a temp citation name?
Like the others already said, Mellel's bibliography features are designed to work with bibliography apps like Bookends or Sente . If you are not totally broke and if you are not writing an academic text just once or twice I strongly recommend you to check these programs out. Trial versions are avail...

Paragraph styles in imported texts (again)
I know there have been numerous threads about this. I'm starting a new one because the problem is still not solved. In my opinion—and not mine alone—importing and exporting is Mellel's weakest spot. It is such a great app when you work with it as the only word processor but when you have to import a...
