Re: writing direction

Wow
You are correct -- I never noticed that before -- I'd say this is a bug.

You should notify the developers support at redlers.com

Re: Footnotes in the right margin?

No, sections aren't an answer yo beck's request -- that will happen only once the Redlers implement flow-through [the chief improvement request many of us have for Sections]. Today, sections function only as columns: column 1 on page 1 flows to column 2 on page 1 and then to column 1 on page 2, colu...

Re: writing direction

And, one more thought, Raymond: when you open a new document from a template, it has a defined direction. File/Document Setup/Binding Direction. I have templates defined for English documents (binding direction L2R) and for Hebrew documents (R2L). There is no need for Mellel to "sense" the...

Re: writing direction

I'm not entirely sure that would be a good idea. First, I have a lot of complaints about the way Mail mixes R2L and L2R text. Second, I often need to start a R2L or L2R document with text in the opposite direction. For example, a Biblical quote in Hebrew followed by a discussion in English. Finally,...

Re: Using/Printing comments

This is helpful but .... 1. if several of us are working together on a document using Track Changes, each gets a different color and the Comments get lost in shuffle. 2. Yes, saving the change history separately is an option. Though this may also get messy if the document ends up going through sever...

Re: Using/Printing comments

Yes it's all very confusing since track changes and comments both appear in the annotation plane and both appear/disappear as the plane is tuned on and off. And, if I'm not mistaken, both use in the same yellow. What I would like to be able to do -- as far as I can tell this can't be done -- is to p...

Re: Using/Printing comments

Thanks, Venesy, only this doesn't work.

Unchecking Annotations on Exporrt PDF removes the annotations plane but not the changes themselves.

If I changed the letter a to b I will get crossed out a followed by b. This is not a "clean" document.

Re: Using/Printing comments

OK, I found it: you turn off comments by deactivating Track Changes

Grrrrrrrrrr

Now I like comments even less.

Using/Printing comments

Friends, I've never liked comments: I find they rapidly get very messy and confusing. But, some of my colleagues insist on using them. What I lack is means to export my document to pdf and/or print it clean of all comments -- I only wish to see the final version, not the deleted words. This is such ...

Re: French typography : automatic no-break before ? ; : !

Hi Marcoup, The question of straight versus curved apostrophes is also a font issue. With an American English keyboard, cap-option-] gives a right-curving apostrophe for some fonts and q right-straight one for others. Similarly, cap-option-[ sometimes gives a left-curving apostrophe and sometimes le...

tommasino wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2019 4:41 pm In InDesign there is an option called “No break” which prevents a line break across the selected characters. I could really use that in Mellel as well.
Thomas
Not exactly a solution, but close: Insert/Special Characters/Space includes several no-break options

Re: A Mellel PDF becomes unintelligible

Just looked it up: "imposition" is the process of printing multiple pages on both sides of a single large sheet so that when the sheet is folded the pages fall into order with the correct orientation. This is a very well-defined process: printing four pages on a single large sheet, the fro...

Re: A Mellel PDF becomes unintelligible

OK. I spoke with my printer: He doesn't remember the specific problem I had, but he agrees that these kind of problems are usually font-oriented. If, he says, an error message appears about a bad font as soon as you go to print, that's it. The file is useless. However, if no message appears, the sol...

Re: A Mellel PDF becomes unintelligible

So, it was a "strange" font afterall.

I'll ask my printer what he did to work around the problem that I had.
