Re: Footnote Style Problems after RTF Import

I have just tried out what Bulow suggested. I wrote a document in Scrivener with three sentences and three footnotes. I compiled it to RTF. I opened the RTF with Mellel. [The bar above the editor showed Par. Style + when the footnotes were selected.) I went to Insert>Edit Note attributes. At the to...

Re: Replacement text with subscript

Or you can search all CO2 and replace them with CO₂, the ₂ being UTF E2 82 82. All the sub- and superscript digits exist as predefined and will stay as they should during all style-changes

Re: Footnote Style Problems after RTF Import

I do this very often: After you have imported your rtf into Mellel, go to Insert > Note > Edit note attributes. At the top, about center of the window you find Note style which will (or always does for me) show RTF footnotes. Simply change this to your preferred footnote-style. Works a treat. The re...

Re: OTF fonts

What OTF fonts are people using?
I have never used this option, but tried now and it works, but not with e.g. Times NR. So another good reason not to use this awful font. As to your question: I use Warnock Pro and like it very much.

Re: Not wanted line count

You can get rid of it by opening 'section' in the palette and choose line numbering - none. I have already asked that the line-counting feature should not be the default, but without result so far.

Many of us have found it difficult. You may find something useful in the thread 'Setting the language for the spell-check' in this forum.

Re: "GO TO PAGE" - problem

I once had a file like yours where the go-to page did not work properly as you describe, but I cannot remember what I did with it. I probably copied it into a new file (cut & paste), but am not sure. As far as I remember the problem went away. As for your end-notes problem: how (with which progr...

Re: Line under title

I can see, but it's still way too complicated. I think this feature is much easier to implement than import from docx. and by the way, import from rtf doesn't work well -- all my footnotes are transformed in some kind of endnotes, which are not real endnotes since there is no connection between the...

Re: Line under title

Well, I do not particularly want to defend my ridiculous solution, but I have now changed https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/28290570/line_under_title.mellel as you want it, with a line above as well. Just copy and paste the first line you made. I agree that there should be a simpler way of doing i...

Re: Line under title

Under your title, insert a table with only one row and one column. This will produce an oblong rectangle under your title, the full width of the page. Then go to tables in the palettes and make the three sides of the rectangle invisible. You can also vary the thicknes of the remaining line. The only...

Re: Mellel, .docx and publishing houses

I have done like ozean for a long time and it works fine. I normally send the editors an rtf. Once there was a problem when I received the proofs, since all my footnotes had disappeared. The editor had opened it without thinking on his Mac and it had opened in TextEdit. Fortunately it was a short te...

Re: Migration from Pages '09 and Endnote X7

I know neither Pages nor Endnote, nor the combination of the two, so they may do things that I am unfamiliar with. Anyway, can you get the whole thing, with notes and references, correctly into a Word-document? If you can, save this as rtf and then import the rtf into Mellel (not just opening it wit...

Re: Migration from Pages '09 and Endnote X7

Can't you just change the position of your notes? After importing into Mellel, go to 'insert' > note > edit note attributes and then change 'position' from 'end of document' to 'bottom of page'. Unless there is a very special problem in your imported texts, this ought to do the trick.

Re: Deletes whole paragraphs

I quite see that this must be anxiety provoking, but I do not recognize this behaviour of Mellel. Nothing like this has ever happened to me. What exactly do you do? If you click once on a place, you can insert, twice you choose the word and thrice, the whole paragraph. Is this anything to do with wh...

Re: What's next for Mellel 3.4?

Undo for changes to styles, e.g. if I change the point size of Body text character style to 12, then decide it was better at 11, it should be possible to undo with the Menu command or Cmd-z. I don't understand - as far as I can see, this is possible whether you change the size by applying another s...
