I've got the same problem after the update to 12.3.1. The app gets sluggish both while typing, scrolling within a document and scrolling in the Mellel folder located at iCloud.
Really hope for a quick fix.

Re: Hyphenation on iPad
One year later and sadly no sign of any improvements regarding these features that are more or less essential to a word processor today. When will the iPad version of Mellel come up to the same level as the macOS version?

Re: After editing note attributes, unnecessary scrolling to the beginning of a document
Let's say, I'm somewhere in the middle of a Mellel document when I open the note attributes pane in order to check/change some note formatting attributes (Insert –> Note –> Edit note attributes.) When I click on the OK button to close the pane, Mellel always scrolls to the beginning of the document...

Re: Embedding fonts in a PDF
The only answer I can find regarding this topic is quite old. It's from 2009 and can be read here in the Mellel forum (click on the link).
I do not know if this has changed during the last 9-10 years. If it has, hopefully to the better.

My Master thesis reached nearly 29,000 words altogether. No problems at all during the writing process. Worked like a charm together with Bookends.
Forgot to mention it included a lot of cross-references and footnotes as well.

Re: iPad Keyboard Shortcuts
Hello, as far as I can tell, some of the system wide iOS keyboard shortcuts (iPad 3rd Gen and iOS 12.1.1) are not available on Mellel, but are available on Pages, Notes, Scrivener, etc. Just a couple of examples: (1) Holding Command while in the App doesn’t bring up a list of keyboard shortcuts. Te...

Re: A Mellel PDF becomes unintelligible
Thanks, all (esp. Eyal) for the advice. I've sent both 'versions' of PDF to the publishers, whose printers are now telling them their software doesn't recognise the font. It's Palatino Linotype. Any (polite) suggestions as to what I might suggest the publisher advises the printer to do would be wel...

Re: A Mellel PDF becomes unintelligible
1. How did you produce the PDF? Did you use File->Export->PDF or did you use File->Print and then produced a PDF? Try using the opposite method and see if that makes a difference Which is the recommended and prefered way to create a pdf file from within Mellel using the two methods mentioned above?

Re: How Mellel has failed me
Why not just use MS Word? If this is the format you need at the end of the day, then why not just use MS Word? It's just not my cup of tea. I have to use MS Word sometimes, but if I can avoid it, I rather not use it. Has nothing to do with that MS Word is from Microsoft, more than MS word is not my...

Re: examples of layout
Even Mellel is not primarily an application you should use if you want to work with layouts, but it's more of a word processor, it's possible to some extent to work with layouts. The closest to your request I can think of is to create a new document from within Mellel and select the template »Newsle...

Re: Keyboard text shortcuts in system preferences
Could be that Mellel doesn't use the built-in text engine provided by Apple?

Re: Keyboard text shortcuts in system preferences
I made a test after I read the question, and I was surprised it didn't work. I use Typinator and before that, I used to use TextExpander, so I never really used the built-in version of macOS.
