Is there a reason you are moving to Bookends rather than staying with Sente? They are both excellent Ref managers and both integrate with Mellel - both do live bibliography as well. I am aware of that option and have not ruled it out. Scrivener does seem designed for that approach. I shall probably revisit that path as well.

I don't know if live bibliography is really of particular significance in this case. The thing is that you will write each chapter as a separate document, and before submitting it you will scan the document to get the bibliography. What is the best way of getting a Pages document into Mellel? Export the Pages document as a Word document and then import that into Mellel? Or should I exported as a RTF and then bring it into Mellel?

Just in a way of a general comment: I cannot really say what will be in "Nisus Pro" or how it will work. At present, this is vaporware, because no one can test it, even as an alpha or beta. Up until now, in the four+ years of NWE it has relied, by and large, on Apple's generic text engine...
