Re: Collaborating using rtf format plus Bookends
Then you're basically relegated to 2 real options: either you change your workflow, or your collaborators change theirs. Mellel is really quite unsuited to working in a heterogenous environment; it only works well when every aspect of your workflow is in Mellel. (Of course, the same is also true of ...

Re: Collaborating using rtf format plus Bookends
Since the changes are being done to the RTF, I have a semi-convoluted option: RTF is essentially a plain text format. Because of this, you can diff the RTF you submitted to them with the RTF they returned to you. The diff may be a bit awkward because of the formatting codes in it, but it should pres...

Re: Mellel menu Language
The OP wishes his interface language for OS X to be German—and presumably, for all applications, including input—but wishes that Mellel's interface was localized for English. In Microsoft Office, this is achieved by using the 'Language Register' application that localizes a Microsoft application. (T...

Re: Mellel menu Language
I'm glad you found a solution that works for you. I just tested my previous suggestion by setting $LANG, which was incorrect. The proper environment variable ought to have been $LANGUAGE. However, it seems that OS X doesn't set the $LANG/$LANGUAGE variables. Even substituting $LANGUAGE for $LANG, or...

Re: Mellel menu Language
There isn't really a way to do that easily in OS X. Basically what you would need to do is open the System Preferences, change your preferred language from Germna to English, start Mellel, then switch your language back from English to German in the System Preferences. Another thought is possibly a ...

Re: Problems Exporting to Word Doc
From the sounds of the discussion, it begs the question: how are you doing your styles? Do you use Mellel's styles and variations for all your styling, or do you have portions where you style ad-hoc? Mellel does best with styles, and ad-hoc styling should be avoided.

Re: iCloud...
If you upgraded to iCloud Drive on any iOS 8 or OS X 10.10 machines, but still have devices on earlier versions of iOS or OS X, then you're in a bit of a mess. The conversion is one-way, and applications on earlier systems trying to access iCloud will mess things up, because you're using 'iCloud Dri...

Re: Mellel as a tool for drafting contracts.
A second note regarding kerning: perhaps try a different family known to have rather robust GPOS OpenType tables, such as Minion Pro. If the results are satisfactory, then it would follow that families using GPOS for kerning would indeed make a difference. I am aware that legal documents in certain ...

Re: Mellel as a tool for drafting contracts.
To align your numbers, insert a right- or decimal-tab between the 'hanging' portion of the margin and where you want the rest of the paragraph to begin (and possibly, another at the start of where the paragraph is to be, at the position of the left margin). Then, for each line with the hanging numbe...

Re: Mellel as a tool for drafting contracts.
As far as kerning goes, I'm uncertain if Mellel supports OpenType GPOS tables, which is how kerning is generally handled now. In addition, because of the manner in which they are defined, they may allow some control between different faces/weights. In regard to to negative indent: why not think of e...

Re: Mellel as a tool for drafting contracts.
As far as the kerning issue, you are correct; Mellel's does not support manual kerning. A workaround might be to use a family with better kerning/hinting in the fonts themselves. As far as the number issue, I would suggest looking at either the combo-tab, or looking at the flexibility of the margin/...
Re: ToC
You format the way TOC entries look in the TOC tab of the Edit Auto-Titles dialog. This al so where you can format how they appear in the text, outline pane, and mentions in headers/footers.

Re: word order Hebrew in Word for Mac
Both Mellel and LibreOffice support RTF, which allows for every feature that is found in Word for Windows; you can use that as an interchange format. Also, Word is close to offering full native support for ODF/ODT, which is LibreOffice's native format.
