I just found a workaround for a recurring problem: I like to work with auto-titles in the header, but they frequently become too long for the header.
Workaround: Adding "invisible" short titles after the normal titles in the text, in a special paragraph + character style, with letters in white.
This way, the auto-titles in the header can refer to these invisible short titles.

Just curious, is this still the only work-around or are there meanwhile other possibilities?

Re: How-to shorten auto-titles in header
Since the auto titles set up can be different in the Mentions set up and the Format and of the Outline setups in the auto titles set up window, you could, if you wished, make your title include two parts, with only the first or the second part used in the Mentions set up. I am sure there are other possibilities also.

Wow, this is a brilliant solution!
But I wonder, would it be very difficult for the Redlers to implement some sort of short-title solution for headers?

Re: How-to shorten auto-titles in header
That's indeed a good solution!
Hoping as well that it will be possible to implement a solution. Perhaps the possibility to enter a short version of a title which can then be chosen in the auto-title setup?
Best,

FYI, Redlers, this isn't a question about Mellel - it's pure spam.

Pure Spam? Isn't that an oxymoron?joewiz wrote:FYI, Redlers, this isn't a question about Mellel - it's pure spam.
