Restarting footnote numbering: determining 'section'

Post by Boban »

Dear Mellel Wisdom,

I have selected 'restart numbering each section' in the footnote style dialogue, yet, my footnaote remain continuously number. The document in question is a book where Level 1 (in autotitles) are chapters.

Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

Thanks

Have you put a section break at the end of each chapter?

No problem. It would be nice if footnote numbering could be coordinated with an outline level, rather than depending on manual section breaks.

I mentioned this issue to the redlers, since it is more intuitive to me to structure long texts using outline elements. Ori or Eyal had a conceptually sound reply, I don't remember exactly what it was, that convinced me that their approach was reasonable.

Still, while it is good to have section breaks reseting footnote numbers, I would like the ability to embed section breaks in autotitles.
