At last we finished the documentation for Mellel's XML format and it's a real page turner! (not).

The bibliographic references are Endnote xml, I'll add more info in the next revision of the document.

Off thread, but on the topic of bibliographic references, I was surprised to find that Mellel replicates all fields of bibliographic references in the .Mellel package (as endnote XML files). That includes fields containing notes, which are useless for citation purposes. I made a note to myself that if the opportunity ever arises, I should never share my Mellel files without pruning those files. I don't like people to sneak to my (very informal) bibliographic notes.
I was passing by and had to comment on the last post, which I infer to mean that one of the nice features of Mellel and Bookends integration may not be widely known. The full text of each citation is embedded so we could implement the sync feature. That is, if you are collaborating with others using Mellel and Bookends, you can make sure you all share the same references by syncing to the document you are working on. If there is sensitive information you don't want to share (in a reference manager?), make a duplicate of the reference without that information and cite that.

P.S. And despite the tagline assigned by the forum, I do not have the styles thing figured out.

I think aechallu is on to something real here and it should be Mellel's task to allow one to choose whether to save or clean the notes. AFAIK, they're there for synchronisation purposes, but that should not expose the user's comments.aechallu wrote:Off thread, but on the topic of bibliographic references, I was surprised to find that Mellel replicates all fields of bibliographic references in the .Mellel package (as endnote XML files).
