export mellel styles to word and/or indesign?

i am writing my thesis in mellel because it's great for that but want to do the final layout in indesign.
anyone has a suggestion how to make sure i can have the styles import to indesign?

i know that indesign handles the styles form imported word files but from my understanding mellel does not export styles when exporting to rtf or word format. if i could get the mellel styles into a word document i could then get them also into indesign.
so the question is, how to export a mellel document for use with word or/and indesign that maintains the styles?
