Question: Scrivener outputs bookmarks for folders and documents to specified levels. These are understood to be bookmarks by Mellel, and show up in the "Outline" pane. If one of these bookmarks is selected in the Outline pane, the option is offered to "Change" and it offers a selection of autotitles. Now, if one of these is selected, such as "subsection" nothing happens. Mellel is clearly willing to change from one autotitle to another, but not to promote bookmarked text to autotitle status. Now, I suppose this is because a bookmark is just a position, rather than a range of text (such as a title would be). Nevertheless, wouldn't it be nice to be able to select all of the bookmarked titles and apply an autotitle to them?
Afterwards one could promote and demote titles to one's hearts content.
Since however this is not possible, is it correct that the context click brings up the "Change" option, since it appears not to do anything?

This behavior looks like a bug. We will take care of it ASAP.

Re: Manipulating Bookmarks
Hello.
I have the same problem after exporting from Scrivener with folders being transformed into bookmarks when the compiled rtf is imported into Mellel.
Was there any resolution to the "bug" reported a couple of years ago?
Thanks
Mathieu

Re: Manipulating Bookmarks
When I wrote "this is a bug" I was referring to the behaviour where Mellel would offer "Change" for a bookmark when this is clearly cannot be changed into an auto title. This was fixed but obviously we also need to look into the folders turned into bookmarks.
I would be most grateful if someone could send such a sample RTF file. Send emails to my first name at mellel.com.

Re: Manipulating Bookmarks
Thank you for the reply. I found a decent solution to the problem of structural elements from Scrivener being understood as tags/bookmarks in Mellel. Instead of compiling the text in Scrivener as rtf, I used the Export>OPML function and the entire outline structure devised in Scrivener + text attached to each sections was perfectly well understood by Mellel (after using Import>OPML... function). The only downside is that one cannot use the extensive menu to customize the compiled text.
Thanks
Mathieu
PS I will send a rtf of the original file to your email.

Re: Manipulating Bookmarks
The OPML solution mlemaire suggests does work - it makes Scrivener titles of files/folders into autotitles - but it not a solution for exporting, say, a thesis with footnotes etc.
Was a solution ever found to turn bookmarks (which is what Scrivener files/folders become when a Scriv project is compiled to an rtf and then imported into Mellel) into autotitles?
Thanks for your help.
David
ps I asked more or less the same question back in 2008, but never got a reply, boo-hoo!
