While trying to type in some lines of Sanskrit text, I realized that Mellel doesn't seem to "like" it . Is there any way to force Mellel to behave correctly with it or, alternatively, is there any workaround? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Devanagari script
Unfortunately, Mellel does not properly handle Devanagari. Its OpenType engine does not handle conjuncts, and therefore it is nearly impossible to use. One work around would be to manually input your Devanagari characters using the precomposed conjuncts instead of input with an IME or other input method, but even then come diacritics may not properly align.

Re: Devanagari script
Support for Devanagari and other Indic scripts was promised years ago but has unfortunately never eventuated. If you really need to type Devanagari, you will need to use Nisus or some other word processor using Apple's text engine.

Best thanks to rpcameron & rwg for their very kind answers. I do really hope that the promised Indic script support will be implemented soon
