I had not had specific problems with deletion, but 2.9 and 2.9.1 feel definetely heavier and less "snappy" than previous versions (I have a 2010 15" macbook pro, i5, 4gb, with Lion installed)

The "choppy deletion" thread keeps getting hits. I'm guessing there are others who have experienced what I have - that Mellel 2.8 and 2.9 are generally sluggish compared to 2.7. One thing that I noticed several months ago - the error log in the console that grew with every character typed in Mellel - was addressed successfully by the Redlers. However, the main issue for me - the slow, choppy deletion - was not addressed.

Perhaps, as I said, others have noticed the slow-down in Mellel 2.8 and 2.9. Perhaps not. To me, it's a pity that the addition of great features in the recent updates has come at the cost of something much more important - flawless and immediate response time when typing and deleting.

My wish for Mellel 3.x is simply that the former responsiveness of Mellel be recovered, alongside the implementation of all the new post-2.7 features. I'm afraid, however, that all kinds of new features will continue to be added while the most basic thing - responsiveness while typing and deleting - becomes klunkier and klunkier.

There's more flash now in Mellel. But it seems to me it's coming at the expense of the essential thing a good word processor should do - make you forget about the interface so you can concentrate on getting your thoughts on the page.

For the record, I have yet to see this problem with my tests which means that this prolem is related to some particularity in your document or environment - this doesn't mean that it is not a real issue that needs fixed but we can't fix something if can't even reproduce the problem...
If you and others that experience this problem contact us directly we will be able to figure out and fix this problem.

The added features in Mellel 3.0 are nice. The new interface is nice, too. But the old problem of choppy deletion persists. I'd love the upgrade but for this. I'll be sticking to Mellel 2.7.2.
