Text to Speak?

Post by jas »

Hello,

This may be a mac os question, but was wondering if there is any way to turn on "Speech" in Mellel?

I sometimes like to hear the text read out loud, even if it's a digital voice. Helps me catch errors I miss when reading alone. "Speech" is available on TextEdit (Right Click--Speech--Start Speaking) and so for now I'm copying and pasting to TextEdit. Is this available in Mellel?

Happy New Year!

Yes, it can be used. But I found that I had to change the shortcut key.

In Lion, go to System Prefereces > Speech (under System, to the right of Accounts). When that panel comes up, then choose the second tab "Text to Speech." In the middle choose the "Change keyboard" button, and then choose something. The preset in Mellel does "paste special," so I changed it to Ctrl + CMD + V. Works fine.

Thanks for the information. It works great. I use the Esc + Opt combination.
