Problems with Printing
At work I'm running mellel (now 3.0) and am unable to print to our konica/minolta bizhub c220. Every other application has no problem sending documents to printer. when i try to print with mellel (we do use an account track system, so requires a password/username, which i've entered) the printer fires up, stops, shuts down, and gives me an error. I'm thinking this is a mellel issue since any other program has no problem. I LOVE my mellel, but without printing capability I'm having to use other programs. Anyone had similar difficulties?

Does this happen with every Mellel document (including a newly created document)?
Are you able to save as PDF or produce a preview? (and if so, note that at least in the meanwhile you can print that)

happens with everything in mellel, new or old. i can print to pdf, but it's a bit of a pain workaround

Is this new with Mellel 3.0?
Try removing and re-adding the printer in the Print & Scan system preferences.
Also, see if the popup menu is possibly showing two instances of your printer in the print window, if so, try choosing the other instance.

been happening since the lion upgrade last year. only one printer in the dialogue box

Obviously something that is specific to Mellel is happening but it is hard to tell what. What kind of an error do you see? Do you seen any messages in the console?

the error message on the printer says "group auth. error" which i believe has something to do with account tracking, though i've entered and reentered the account track info many times and it hasn't changed. no error in console.

I think you should talk with the people giving support (or the manufacturer) to the account tracking system. It could be that the problem is caused by something that Mellel is not doing or doing wrong when printing (although I can't imagine what) but we have no info about it. The tracking system you're using is somehow getting in the middle and maybe failing because it expecting something that is missing in the Mellel output but we can't fix this unless we know what it that their system is missing.
An additional thought, maybe the issue is not related to Mellel as an application but rather to the type or content of documents you're printing with Mellel.
Maybe all the Mellel documents you're printing are using a feature like a watermark, background image, logo in the header etc that is causing the failure.
Would setting up a blank page and trying to print that fail too?

thanks for your reply. as this has been happening to me for about a year, i've tried to print almost every kind of doc imaginable with the same result. i will check with the manufacturer of the printer to see if there's some light they can shed. thanks again.

What version of OS X are you running?
There may be a problem with the printer drivers you are using. Check this forum thread for details:

I also saw someone mention that you may need special permissions to print 2-sided on this printer. Check to make sure that you either have those permissions, or that Mellel is set to print single-sided.
Finally, there might be some more clues in the Console. Open it up (/Applications/Utilities/Console.app) and see if any error messages come floating by when trying to print.
