Arabic Fonts - how many & which are there?

Post by OmarKN »

Hi & good day,

There is New Times Roman - Arabic and Geneva - Arabic, but how many more?

And they differ somewhat, or not?

Are they for display somewhere for the looks?

Whould be good!

Hi Omar,

Do NOT use New Times Roman!
There are many buggy copies of this font "in the wild" and you can never tell what your correspondents on other computers will see.

Helvetica will also work for you
and
check out the XW Zar fonts on Mellel's fonts page: http://www.redlers.com/downloadfont.html

Plus, of course, there are many excellent fonts for purchase. I would start with Myfonts.com

Geeza Pro and Baghdad seem to be default Mac system fonts (though in Snow Leopard I think Geeza Pro was buggy).

You can check which Arabic fonts you have installed by opening "Font Book" (from your applications folder). Then in the left hand column there should be an "Arabic" collection.
